Selection Procedure for CDS 2020

Combined Defence Service CDS (I) 2020 selection procedure is rigorous process through which candidates in fields of Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA) and Officers Training Academy are selected. The UPSC CDS (I) 2020 Selection Procedure mentioned in the following steps:

    1. Written Examination
    1. Personality Test/ Personal Interview
    1. Verification of the candidates
  1. Medical Examination of the selected candidates

Detailed information for the CDS (I) 2020 selection procedure:

STEP 1: Written Examination

The first step in the selection procedure of CDS (I) 2020 begins with candidates appearing for written examination which is scheduled for  02nd February 2020. The candidate opting for IMA, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy are required to give three written subjects of the following subjects:

  • English – Maximum Marks – 100 & Duration – 2 Hours
  • General Knowledge – Maximum Marks – 100 & Duration – 2 Hours
  • Elementary Mathematics – Maximum Marks – 100 & Duration – 2 Hours

The candidates appearing for Officers Training Academy will have to give written test of two subjects of the following:

  • English – Maximum Marks – 100 & Duration – 2 Hours
  • General Knowledge – Maximum Marks – 100 & Duration – 2 Hours
  • The maximum marks allotted to the written examination and to the interviews will be equal for each course i.e. the maximum marks allotted to the written examination and to the interviews will be 300, 300, 300 and 200 each for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy respectively.

    The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The
    question papers (Test Booklets) of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English.
    In the question papers, wherever necessary, questions involving the metric
    system of Weights and Measures only will be set.

STEP 2: Personality Test OR Personal Interview

The second step in the CDS 2020 (I) Selection procedure is personality test or personal interview. A panel judges the shortlisted candidates and on the grounds of verbal and non verbal intelligence the candidates are further selected. The panel may decide to conduct a group activity, group discussion etc. The candidate’s social personality and knowledge of the current affairs and his personality are under scrutiny for this procedure.

STEP 3: Document Verification:

After the personal interview is conducted in the STEP 2 of the CDS 2020 (I) selection procedure, the candidates are shortlisted and there all the documents for verification are required. Following is the list of documents to be submitted for verification:

    • Birth Certificate
    • Academic Degrees (HSC, SSC, Graduation etc)
    • Certificate of Eligibility for certain candidates
    • Passport size photograph
    • Identity proof
    • Residence proof etc.
  • Category or cast certificate (SC, ST, OBC, PH etc)

    Lat date of form submission is18 August But .On18 August there is holiday of Janmashtmi. may i fill the form on 19 august is that possible.
