Q.   How to apply online?

All candidates applying for the GATE 2015 examination need to do so online only. In order to so, the candidate is required to visit an online interface which will be provided for most of your interaction with the GATE office. This interface can be accessed using website with this interface you can apply for the examination online; upload photograph, signature, and supporting documents; make application fee payment through net banking; check the status of your application form.

The login to this interface will be through your chosen email address and a password.

Q.   Can I use one e­mail address to fill multiple application forms?

No, a candidate will require an e-mail address to submit their application form and he/she and only register for one application for one form.

Q.   Why is there a need to choose three examination cities?

Most often than not, the city which your will fill as your first preference will be allotted to you as your test centre. But the candidate is asked to fill in three options is because in case the first preference is not available in terms of seating capacity or operational constraints, then the candidate is accommodated in the second choice and so on and so forth.

Also keep in mind that the GATE committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one, and allot a city that may not be any of the choices of a candidate.

Q.   What do I do in case my internet connection fails during the application process?

In case your internet connection fails during the application process, you can simply go back and retrieve your application form. But this will only work if you have hit the ‘Save’ button during your application procedure and the application will save information till the pint you had hit the button.

Otherwise you will have to start all over again.

Q.   How can I make the fee payment for GATE 2015 examination?

Although you can only fill the application for GATE 2015 online but there are other ways of paying for it. There are the following options:

a)      Online Payment which can be done through Net Banking through the payment gateway.

b)      I­Collect/ I­Connect Payment which will be made online, a procedure of State Bank of India/Axis Bank.

c)       e­challan facility has been made available by both SBI and Axis Bank

Q.   When will I receive my admit card?

The admit card for GATE 2015 can only be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites from December 17, 2014. Admit Cards for the same will not be sent by post.

Q.    Is the Admit card alone sufficient to gain entry to the exam?

At the examination centre the candidate will require at least one original (not photocopied/scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification, whose details have been entered while filling the application, along with the admit card. Photocopies of the identification document will not be acceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the exam if the original and valid photo identification is not presented. The following Photo ID cards can be used for the same:

  • Driving license
  • Passport
  • PAN Card
  • Voter ID
  • Aadhaar UID
  • College ID
  • Employee Identification Card
  • Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Ad dress.

Q.   How many GATE papers can I apply for?

Although there are 22 papers to chose from, but the candidate needs to apply for one paper only. The candidate is expected to appear in a paper most appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree. Also, while choosing the paper keep in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he/she wishes to seek admission

Q.   After submission of application, can I change my GATE Examination Paper and Examination City?

No change in the GATE Examination paper, after the submission of Application Form, is permitted. However, requests for change of examination city will be accepted but only till November 21, 2014 along with a fee of   400/‐(four hundred only) to be paid in the form of a Demand Draft (DD) in favor of “Chairman, GATE 2015”, payable at the city of the respective Zonal GATE Office.
