From the session 2016, IGNOU B.Ed Eligibility Criteria has been changed. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) had already announced changes in the eligibility criteria of B.Ed. programme. The minimum duration of the B. Ed programme is two years. However, the maximum period allowed for completion of the programme will be five years.

 

Highlights:-

  • As per the new eligibility criteria now, the candidates desirous of pursuing the BEd course should have done diploma in Elementary Teachers Training (ETT) or diploma in Elementary Education (DEED) or National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)-recognised teacher education programme through face-to-face mode.
  • Interested Candidates must have secured minimum 50 percent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent.
  • The reservation & relaxation in marks for SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer)/PWD & other categories shall be as per the rules of Central Government, whichever is applicable.

Since, the eligibility criteria for the IGNOU B.Ed (distance learning mode) has been changed, there is no option but to pursue the ETT/DEEd/NCTE course and then sit in the entrance test for the next academic session of BEd programme of IGNOU.
