Presidency University Kolkata announces Common Entrance Test - PUBDET 2019 for UG Admission

Presidency University Admission Test - PUBDET 2019 - Presidency University, Kolkata has released notification from eligible candidates for admission to various Undergraduate Programmes through a Common Entrance Exam PUBDET 2019, which will be conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) for the academic year 2019-20.

For 2019-20 academic sessions, the Board will conduct Common Entrance Examinations titled PUBDET-2019 for admission to three year B.A. /B.Sc. (Honours) Course in the Presidency University.

The medium of admission tests will be English except for vernacular subjects like Hindi & Bengali.

Presidency University Admission Test - PUBDET 2019 Important Dates

  • Online Application with Payment of Fees 12th February 2019 to 12th March 2019 (05.00 pm)
  • Online Correction and Downloading revised Confirmation Page: 13th March 2019 to 15th March 2019
  • Publication of Downloadable Admit Card: 04th June 2019 (tentative)
  • Date of Examinations: 15th June 2019 (Saturday) & 16th June 2019 (Sunday)
  • Publication of Results 16th July 2019 (Tuesday) (tentative)

 

Eligibility Criteria for Presidency University Admission Test - PUBDET 2019

  • Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates who have passed/appeared in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or an equivalent examination, not before 2018, are eligible to apply.
  • For admission, the candidate must pass any of the aforementioned examinations, with at least five recognized subjects (full marks not less than 100), including English language.
  • For candidates with International ‘A’ level or International Baccalaureate qualifications, at least three subjects at the IGCSE level and three subjects at the ‘A’ level are required, with English in either of the two levels. If required, such candidates may seek help from the Chairpersons of the Admission Committee of the Presidency University.

Dept./Subject wise Eligibility Criteria

  • Besides the minimum aggregate as shown above, the candidate must also fulfil following special academic criteria for admission in respective courses.
  • Bengali: The candidate may apply from Arts/Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have Bengali as one subject with 60% marks in Bengali.
  • English: The candidate may apply from Arts/Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one subject with 65% marks in English-A (WBHS) or 75% in English.
  • History: The candidate has to apply from Arts stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have History as one subject with 65% marks in History.
  • Philosophy: The candidate may apply from Arts / Science / Commerce stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one subject with 65% marks in English.
  • Political Science: The candidate may apply from Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one subject with 60% marks in English.
  • Sociology: The candidate may apply from Arts / Science / Commerce stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one subject with 70% marks in English.
  • Hindi: The candidate may apply from Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have Hindi as one subject with 60% marks in Hindi.
  • Performing Arts: The candidate may apply from Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one subject with 60% marks in English.
  • Physics: The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Physics and 80% in Mathematics.
  • Chemistry: The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Chemistry.
  • Mathematics: The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Mathematics as one subject at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Mathematics.
  • Statistics: The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Mathematics as one subject at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Mathematics or 80% in Statistics (if Statistics is one of the subjects taken at the 10+2 level).
  • Life Sciences: The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Statistics and Biology at 10+2 level.
  • Economics: The candidate may apply from Arts / Science / Commerce stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have Mathematics (not Business Mathematics) as one subject with 70% marks in English (A/B) and 75% in Mathematics.
  • Geography: The candidate may apply from Arts / Science stream with any three of the following subjects at 10+2 level: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, Geography, and Geology.
  • Geology: The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 70% in each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

 

Reservation

  • The reservation policies of West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2013 and West Bengal State Higher Education Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014 will be followed for admission in reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC A/B.
  • Requirements in terms of Residential/Domicile Criteria a) There is no particular Residential/Domicile requirement to appear in the PUBDET-2019.
  • However, the State (West Bengal) Residential/Domicile requirement is applicable for admission in any reserved category of seats).

 

Test Syllabus

  • The tests will be based on the 11th and 12th standard syllabi of various recognised boards/councils.

 

PUBDET 2019 Exam Pattern

  • The medium of tests will be English except for vernacular subjects like Hindi and Bengali. In every subject, all questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type, with four options against each of the questions. There will 50 (fifty) questions in each paper, full marks 100 and time 90 minutes.

 

Mode of answering in the Exam:

  • Questions are to be answered on specially designed optical machine-readable response (OMR) sheet, which will be evaluated by the method of Optical Mark Recognition by specially designed machines and therefore it is very important to follow the correct method of marking.
  • There will be 4 (four) alternative answers for each question. Candidate will indicate response to the questions by darkening the appropriate circle completely with blue/black ball point pen.
  • Any other kind of marking e.g. filling the bubble incompletely, filling with pencil, cross mark, tick mark, dot mark, circular mark, over writing, scratching, erasing, white ink, marking outside the bubble etc. may lead to wrong/partial/ambiguous reading of the response.
  • WBJEEB will be, in no way, responsible for such eventuality.

  • Physics, Political Science - 09:00 am – 10:30 am; Geography, Hindi - 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
  • Mathematics, Philosophy/Sociology/Performing Arts - 01:00 am – 02:30 pm
  • Geology, History - 03:00 pm – 04:30 pm

16th June 2019 (Sunday)

  • Chemistry, Bengali - 09:00 am – 10:30 am
  • Statistics, English - 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
  • Life Science & English - 01:00 am – 02:30 pm

 

Exam Centres

  • The examination will be conducted in various zones e.g. Kolkata Central, Kolkata - North, Kolkata - South, Howrah, Kharagpur, Berhampur, Kalyani, Bankura, Haldia, Asansol, Burdwan, Durgapur, Siliguri, Coochbehar, Srirampur.
  • Any of the exam centres may be dropped if adequate number of candidates is not available.

 

Presidency University Admission Test - PUBDET 2019 Application Process

  • Application has to be filled up online at the Portal www.wbjeeb.in. Candidate needs to visit the portal and follow the links <Examinations> - <PUBDET > - <ONLINE APPLICATION>.
  • The form is interactive in nature; there are two major steps in application form submission as follows:

Step-1 Registration

  • Candidate has to input name, date of birth, gender, mobile number and email id. Candidate must take utmost care to give these inputs. If mistakes are committed, there is no chance of correction.
  • The mobile number and e-mail id entered will be used for all subsequent communication. Candidates also have to choose a login ID and password and remember them, which he/she will use for future log-in.
  • PUBDET candidates have to first choose group-A or group-B of subjects and then choose maximum two subjects from his/her choice of group.

 

Fee Submission

  • Candidate will have to pay the exam fee online (by Net Banking /Debit /Credit Cards) or Offline (by e-Challan).
  • The Amount of Application Fees to be paid for appearing in the PUBDET-2019 is Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) plus the Bank’s Service Charges as applicable. The Exam Fees can be paid in cashless mode by ‘Net Banking’/‘Debit Card’/‘Credit Card’ or in cash using Allahabad Bank e-challan.
  • If offline mode is chosen, an e-challan will be generated automatically. Candidate need to take a print of the challan and pay the fee in any branch of Allahabad Bank.
