Panjab University, Chandigarh has invited applications for admission to M.Ed. (Regular and Correspondence) courses of the academic year 2018-19


PU M.Ed. Entrance Exam 2018

  • Panjab University Master of Education Entrance Exam is taken by the Panjab University to admit students in M.Ed. Courses i.e. M.Ed. (Regular) for the department of education, Colleges of Education situated in Chandigarh and Panjab, which are affiliated to PU and for M.Ed. (two years correspondence courses for in-service teachers)

  • Panjab University offers 150 seats in M.Ed. Course which are equally
  • All the candidates who have valid score are offered admissions for every academic year in the following colleges that are located across the state Panjab:
  • Dept of Education, P.U., Chandigarh - Total: 150 seats
  • M.Ed General (50 seats)
  • M.Ed Guidance and counselling (50 seats Tentative)
  • M.Ed Educational Technology (50 seatsTentative)

Eligibility Criteria

M.Ed. (Regular):

  • Degree in Bachelor of Education/equivalent degree with 50% marks from a recognized University by AIU; or B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed. OR B.El.Ed; or D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate degree with 50% marks in each (5% concession is admissible in eligibility marks to SC/ST/BC/PwD candidates)

M.Ed. Special Education (MR):

  • For M.Ed. Spl. Edu. - MR as per RCI norms (Curriculum Framework, Norms and Guidelines); the admission for the degree of M.Ed. Spl.Ed. (MR) degree shall be open to:
  • A candidate who has successfully passed B.EdSpl.Ed. with minimum 50% marks in respective disability area from a recognized university or any other degree considered equivalent to B.EdSpl. Ed. from an affiliating university and/ or teaching department under any University recognized by U.G.C. with RCI registration
  • A candidate who has successfully passed the B.Ed. General course and has successfully completed Diploma in Education Special Education in respective disability area recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India with minimum 50 percent marks in each course
  • A candidate having passed PG Diploma(Till Academic session 2015-16)
  • A candidate with B.Ed. in particular specialization may be allowed for M.Ed. cross disability/ multicategory (as and when offered) but the reverse is not allowed. B.Ed. with multi-category should not be admitted for specialization in a single disability at the M.Ed. level, however; as part of CBCS, these can be admitted to B.Ed. Spl. Edu. Area C Courses and complete the Specialization Courses to qualify for a particular disability
  • On completion of Area C, these can be admitted to the M.Ed. Spl.Ed in a specific disability. d) A student with B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. B.Ed.Spl. Ed. (4 years Integrated)

Candidates who have passed/appeared in the qualifying exam from any of the following universities (declared as fake by the UGC) are ineligible to appear in the Entrance Tests, as these institutions have been derecognized by the Panjab University)

Reservation of Seats

  • Admission in all categories shall be made subject to fulfillment of the eligibility conditions and in accordance with the provisions contained in the Handbook of Information 2018
  • Seats: General and Reserved
  • Generally, 55.5% of the seats in each course shall be treated as belonging to the General Category
  • 44.5% seats shall be treated as belonging to the Reserved Category, as per details given below:
  • 15% for candidates belonging to the SC
  • 7.5% for candidates belonging to the ST
  • 5% for candidates belonging to the BC
  • 3% seats will be horizontally reserved for persons or class of persons with disability* out of which 1% each shall be reserved for persons


Fees Details

  • M.Ed. (Regular) & M.Ed. Special Education (MR)
  • Candidates are to deposit Rs.4000/- on the spot if admitted to M.Ed. Program. The balance fee will have to be paid at the Institution allotted within 48 hours
  • The fee will be deposited in cash at respective Cash Counters at the venue of counselling at Panjab University, Chandigarh, after getting the admission slip from the 'Admission Committee' at the time of counselling


Application Form

  • Aspiring candidates can apply for PU M.Ed Entrance Exam Online Only by following the below given steps

Steps to follow:

  • Read the Prospectus carefully. Register Online [last date for registration 01st week of August 2018
  • Take print-out of bank slip (bank slip can also be downloaded from account using login id and password)
  • Deposit fee using website generated bank slip at any SBI branch, minimum one day after printing of bank slip. [last date for submission of fee in any SBI branch: August 2018
  • Login again after 24 Hrs. of depositing fee and upload scanned photograph, signature, fill other important information. Complete each section (Profile, Academic Qualification, Weightages, Admission Pool/Quota) carefully and lock each section. (Once you lock the section, you will not be allowed to change information in that section). [last date for completion of form: August 2018
  • Take print out of the duly filled Online Admission Form and submit/send it along with the required documents to Coordinator M.Ed. Admissions - 2018, Room No. 6, Department of Education, Arts Block No. II, Panjab University, Sector 14, Chandigarh [last date for submission of hard copy of admission form & documents: Last week of August 2018


Registration Fee (Non-refundable):

  • General Category - Rs.1500/-
  • SC/ST/PwD Category - Rs.750/-
  • If more than 24 Hrs. have passed after printing the fee slip and your details are not found in bank for depositing fee, write to medadmissions@pu.ac.in mentioning your problem along with application no., name and date of birth
  • Mere login id creation OR deposit of fee does not mean that candidate has completed his/her online application form. Incomplete form leads to cancellation of candidature. Any request for completion of form after due date will not be entertained at all
  • Panjab University does not take any responsibility of postal or other delays. No late applicant will be considered. Applying only online and non-submission of printout of duly filled online application form will result in the rejection of candidature which cannot be revoked after the expiry of due date
