Punjab National Bank invites online applications from Indian citizens for the post of officer (IT-Banking domain)

Eligibility criteria

Nationality/citizenship: A candidate must be either (i) a Citizen of India (ii) a subject of Nepal (iii) subject of Bhutan (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the government of India.

Age as on 01.07.2009: Minimum 21 years maximum 45 years

Educational qualifications as on the opening date of registration: Graduate in any discipline

Post qualification work experience (as on the opening date of registration): 1 year working experience in Core banking solution (Finacle) branches in any bank

Note: (a) The educational qualifications prescribed for the post are minimum. Candidates must possess above qualifications/work experience as on opening date of registration, and must submit marks sheet and degree issued from the University and necessary experience certificate from the employer bank if called for interview

(b) Work experience for post code 01 should be full-time, post-qualification and relevant to the post.

Relaxation in upper age limit: SC/ST – 5 years, OBC – 3 years, PwD – 10 years, Ex-servicemen – 3 years

Selection procedure: Selection will be through written test and/or interview. Merely satisfying the eligibility norms would not entitle a candidate to be called for Test or Interview. The Bank may call only the requisite number of candidates after preliminary screening/short-listing with reference to the candidates’ qualifications, suitability, experience etc.

Written test will be held on Sunday, 20.12.2009 at the following centres, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai

Application fee and postage charges (non-refundable)

SC/ST/PC category candidates – Rs. 50/- per candidate (only postage charges)

General/OBC/Ex-servicemen category candidates – Rs. 400/- per candidate

How to apply

Procedure for depositing fee: The application fee must be paid in cash at any branch of Punjab National Bank. Before depositing the fee, the candidate must download a copy of the cash voucher from our website www.pnbindia.com. The voucher will be in duplicate. The following details must be entered into both copies of the voucher

(i) Candidate’s name (ii) Candidate’s category (iii) Name and code no. of the Branch selected for payment (iv) Date of payment and (v) Fee to be paid (vi) post applied for.

Thereafter, the voucher is to be presented at the branch, along with the application fee. After payment, the candidate must ensure that the transaction ID generated is entered into the voucher. The candidate’s copy of the voucher will then be handed over to him/her.

Payment of fee should be made from 22.10.2009 to 07.11.2009. The date will be the same for candidates belonging to far-flung areas.

Procedure to apply: Candidates should log onto our website www.pnbindia.com (Recruitment Section) The candidates must apply online only.

The transaction ID provided by the Branch after deposit of fee must be quoted in the application and the original cash voucher must be produced along with the call letter at the time of the written test.

Application registration on our website will be open from 22.10.2009 and the last date for registering application online is 07.11.2009

The candidate should have a valid email ID. This will enable him/her to receive call letter/interview advice etc. by email.

Candidates should keep a printout of the duly submitted application as well as original cash voucher. The original cash voucher is to be produced at the examination hall. An information handout will be sent to the candidates along with the call letter for written test.

On-line applications are to be processed by a computerized system, it is essential that the application is properly and completely filled in.

No other mode of application/printout or draft etc will be accepted.

Applications/attested certificates etc are not required to be sent.

Call letters for the written examination: The date of the written examination has been tentatively fixed for 20.12.2009 (Sunday). However, the date of examination shall be intimated in the call letter along with the centre/venue address.

Call letters will be issued by post to the correspondence addresses provided by the candidates. An eligible candidate who does not receive the call letter by 14.12.2009 should contact at the circle offices of the bank located at the center of written examination opted for with a printout of the complete application, original payment voucher and ID proof of obtaining duplicate call letters. Duplicate call letters will be issued from 15.12.2009 to 19.12.2009 between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
