TANUVAS Chennai

  • Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (popularly abbreviated as TANUVAS), the first of its kind in India, was established in the year 1989. TANUVAS, is in its 27th year of existence and excellence
  • TANUVAS continues to strive in ensuring excellence in education, research and extension in the fields of veterinary, animal and food sciences. TANUVAS has been able to attain a unique status amongst the top 50 universities bagging 38th rank at National level and 4th rank at State level

M.V.Sc. Program

  • It is offered in the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur and College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pookode, Wayanad. The duration of the Program is two ears.
  • The admission to M.V.Sc. Course is through an Entrance Exam conducted by the University anda few seats are earmarked for ICAR candidates who qualify entrance exam conducted by ICAR and advised to the KVASU

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligibility of the MVSc Program is Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary and Animal Sciences recognized by the University with an OGPA of 6.0/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of50% marks in traditional system. For SC/ST candidates the OGPA shall be 5.5/10 or equivalent
  • Candidates who have studied under conventional system should possess a minimum of 55% marks in their Bachelor’s degree. Candidates who have passed B.V.Sc & AH degree under the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) regulations should have obtained a minimum of 55% marks
  • For SC/ST candidates, a minimum pass is sufficient
  • 75% of the admission strength for the year is available for the candidates from Tamil Nadu. The remaining 25% is reserved for candidates from other states through ICAR

Age Criteria

  • Maximum age limit shall be 40 years for General category and 45 years for SC/ST category.
  • There is a provision for supplementary seats to the Departmental Candidates and a relaxation of age upto49 years. Students awaiting results can also apply. They should produce attested copy of the final mark list on or before 17th August 2018

 

Selection Process

  • The selection of candidates for admission to M.V.Sc./ M.Tech. degree programs shall be done on the basis of the marks obtained in the Common Entrance Exam and the qualifying exam marks obtained in the BVSc & AH / BTech Degree Programs. The distribution of marks is as follows:
  • Common Entrance Examination Marks: 100
  • Qualifying Examination (BVSc & AH / BTech) Marks:100
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Based on the marks obtained, the Chairman, Admission Committee (PG) will draw a merit list separately for Tamil Nadu State candidates and candidates from other states and publish it at the TANUVAS Website
  • In case of equal total marks, ranking will be done in the merit list based on the marks secured in the Common Entrance Examination alone
  • The eligible candidates will be called for Counselling as per the merit list. Candidates securing less than 50% of total marks shall not be called for Counselling
  • SC/ST candidates securing less than 40% of total marks shall not be called for Counselling

Common Entrance Exam

  • The Common Entrance Examination for M.V.Sc. admission will be of undergraduate level covering the subjects taught and will contain 200 objective type questions with four responses
  • Each question will carry 0.5 mark and the maximum marks will be 100. The examination will be of three hours duration

Counselling Procedure

  • Eligible candidates will be called for Counselling as per the rank. MVSc candidates can choose any one of the disciplines and campus available at the time of Counselling
  • Alternatively, they can opt to remain in the waiting list. If a candidate desires to be in the waiting list, he/she will not be given any firm seat in other disciplines
  • The waiting list will be filled by second Counselling based on merit and vacancy

Reservation

  • The rules of reservation as per the Government of Tamil Nadu shall be followed. Rules of reservation are applicable only when there are four or more seats in each discipline
  • If the number of seats is less than four, selection will be based on merit alone.

 

Application Process

  • Candidates should carefully read the Prospectus before filling up the application form online. Allows/columns in the application should be correctly and completely filled in
  • Candidates may submit applications online at www.tanuvas.ac.in, www2.tanuvas.ac.in on or before 25th July 2018
  • Other formats of application will summarily be rejected
  • Candidates should ensure that correct amount of ONLINE APPLICATION FEE paid by using the method viz. a) Credit Card b) Debit Card c) Internet Banking and d) IMPS in the ONLINE PAYMENT GATEWAY
  • After the online submission of application, the candidate will receive an SMS and email that his / her application(s) is (are) submitted successfully
  • After submitting the application online, the candidates should take a print out, duly sign (Candidate and parents/guardian), attached relevant certificates/documents and send separately for each application by post in person to "The Chairman, admission Committee (PG), Tamil Nadu Veterinary and animal Science University, Madhavaram Milk colony, Chennai-690051" on or before 31st July 2018
