Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) (Deemed University) Loni invites applications from the eligible candidates for the admission into 2 year (four Semesters) Master of Public Health (MPH) & Diploma in Optometry & Ophthalmic Assistance (D. Opt & OA) for the academic year 2017-18

 

About the Institute

PIMS was given a status of Deemed University from 29th Sept., 2003 by Human Resource Development Ministry, Govt. of India on the advise of UGC under section (3) of UGC Act 1956 vide their notification No. F-9-11/2000-U.3

 

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to M.P.H. (Master of Public Health) and Diploma in Optometry & Opthalmic Assistance to be conducted by the Centre For Social Medicine of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences

Programmes Details

 

a) The MPH

The Master of Public Health - a 2 year full time postgraduate degree course, which is recognised by UGC, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, is developed in the context of positioning qualified and skilled professionals who can execute and monitor National & International Public Health Programmes such as WHOs "Health for All", Govt. of India's "National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)" and other Public Health Programmes

 

Objectives

To strengthen the Public Health system together with the technical and managerial skills; to train and develop a cadre of competent public health educators, researchers, practitioners, administrators, managers and policy makers

 

Duration of Course: Two Academic Years (Four Semesters)

 

Medium of Instruction: English

 

Intake: 10 students per year

 

Eligibility

Candidates should have B.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Botany, Zoology, Public Health, Nursing, Biotechnology, Dairy Science, Veterinary Sciences, Home Science, Computer Science, Health Science, Agriculture, etc.)

 

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Journalism, Law and Social Work Graduate in Medical Science (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS and BUMS), Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy

 

Candidates with minimum 50% marks in above subjects from any Indian University or their equivalent

 

Selection Procedure

Those satisfying the eligibility requirements will be included in the selection process. Selection for Admissions in the course will be done purely on merit basis i.e. marks obtained at the qualifying examination

 

b) Diploma in Optometry and Ophthalmic Assistance

The Diploma in Optometry & Ophthalmic Assistance is a visual health care course, where students learn to deal with the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system

 

Objectives

To prepare the students to screen and identify eye diseases at primary level; to provide skills to the students for providing treatment & medical intervention to common eye diseases at primary level; to enable students to participate the health education, counseling, and health promotion activities

 

Duration of the Course: 2 years (4 Semesters)

 

Eligibility of the Course: 10+2 or its equivalent with Science subject (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with minimum 45% marks. SC/ST & OBC category students the minimum marks required will be 40%

 

Age limits of the Students: Minimum 17 years of age

 

Intake Capacity: 10 students per year

 

Selection Procedure: Admission is done purely on merit in the qualifying examination, first-cum-first served and a formal interview, after submitting all documents and verifications

(1) By sending a request letter to the Director, Centre for Social Medicine along with DD for Rs.300/- in favour of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences- Deemed University

 

(2) By downloading from the website www.pravara.com and submitting the downloaded Application Form along with a DD for Rs. 300/-

 

(3) From the Counter of Center for Social Medicine on cash payment of Rs. 300/- on working days from 09.00 am to 05.00 pm
