DU PhD Entrance Test for Admission 2017 Notification

University of Delhi has released notification for admission to PhD Programmes for the academic year 2017-18

 

Details on Delhi University PhD Admission 2017-18 Notification

University of Delhi accepts applications from eligible candidates for PhD Programme twice a year for academic and calendar year. Students are provisionally admitted to PhD Programme through entrance test and interview conducted by the university

 

Common Eligibility for D.U. PhD Admission: Master's Degree in an allied subject from University of Delhi or equivalent

 

The Doctoral Program in Education aims to develop an understanding of research, public policy and educational theory and practice, and the relationships among them. It begins with a study of specific courses followed by rigorous research leading to a dissertation

*3% of the total intake shall be counted as Supernumerary 01 seat is allocated as supernumerary for PWD candidates as 3% of the total intake is counted as supernumerary

 

Eligibility

A candidate must have obtained a Masters or an M.Phil. degree in Education of the University of Delhi, or any other recognized University to be eligible for admission to the PhD Programme

She/he must have obtained either a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the M.Phil. Degree or a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the Master degree

Rounding off of fractions is not allowed while computing the percentage of marks of eligibility

 

Reservations

Reservation of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) to the prescribed extent shall apply in compliance with the rules notified by the University
Supernumerary seats shall be available for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Foreign Nationals as per the University rules

 

Nature of the Common Entrance Test

The test would comprise 50 MCQs each carrying 04 marks with 25% negative marking for each wrong answer; 50% questions would cover Educational Research and 50% questions would cover Foundations of Education

 

Selection of Candidates

Step 1: A test of 200 marks, consisting of MCQs would be compulsory for all candidates who have not cleared any of the National Level Exam (Refer page no: 6 under Category II of the notification of Delhi University No: CNC-II/093/2015-16/464 dated 17th February 2016)

 

This is for equivalence with the candidates who have cleared national level exam; the qualifying mark for candidates from the UR category would be 50, that for OBC would be 45 and there would be no qualifying marks for candidates from the SC and ST categories as per GOI regulations

 

Step 2: An Interview of 25 marks would be conducted in the Department for the following candidates

 

Application Procedure

Admission to PhD will be done according to the Ordinance VI B of the University of Delhi

All candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme are required to register online on http://du.ac.in

 

Applicants are required to submit a Research Proposal. In case a candidate wishes to apply to both, the M.Phil/PhD Programmes, then she/he shall fill separate registration forms for each of the two Programmes

 

Applicant shall be asked to upload the following items: (i) Passport size photograph of the applicant (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG); (ii) Scanned signature of the applicant (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG); (iii) Self attested copy of Identity Proof of the applicant (maximum size: 50kb, Formats JPG/ JPEG/ PNG). Identity proof can be any one of the following documents: Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN card, Voter’s identity card, Passport or College identity card.

 

Registration Fee

Registration Fee (non-refundable) for the written examination is the following:

 

For SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) - Rs.250/-

 

For all other categories (Unreserved, OBC etc) - Rs.500/-

 

Registration fee has to be paid during online registration process through one of the available online payment options
