Applications are invited for admission to the following courses having entrance examination for the year 2012-2013 in University Departments/Centres/Affiliated Colleges

M.Sc General Biotechnology (4 semesters): Degree (10+2+3) with 55% marks in Biotechnology, Bio-Informatics, Biochemistry, Micro Biology, Botany, Zoology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, B.Sc Agriculture, B.V.Sc, B.Pharm, Life Sciences of this University or any other equivalent degree approved by the University

M.Sc Bioinformatics (4 semesters): Degree (10+2+3) with 55% marks in Biotechnology, Bio-Informatics, Biochemistry, Micro Biology, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, B.Sc Agriculture, B.Sc. Genetics, B.Sc Food Technology, B.V.Sc, B.Pharm, Life Sciences, Bio Physics, B.Sc Forestry, B.Sc Fisheries, B.Sc Horticulture, B.E. or B.Tech, Industrial Biotechnology of this University or any other equivalent degree approved by the University

M.Sc Health and Yoga Therapy (4 semesters): Any graduate in Medical Science MBBS, BAMS, BHMS/ Graduate in Biological Sciences (Zoology, Biochemstry, Dietetics and Nutrition, Microbiology, Home Science, Bio Technology, Clinical Psychology, Physiology, Chemistry, any other Science graduate); any Humanities and Commerce graduate

Any graduate from education or Physical Education Faculty, should produce a medical certificate for organic fitness

A minimum of 45% marks should be obtained for graduation

45% should be obtained for selection test

M.Sc (Cyber Security) (4 semesters): B.Sc degree with Mathematics main or a sub/ancillary or BCA or B.Tech (with a Mathematics paper) in any branch with at least 55% marks of any University recognized by UGC

Selection based on marks in the qualifying examination and the entrance test

B.Ed Special Education for Hearing Impaired (1 year): Candidates should have passed the B.A./B.Sc degree examination under the 10+2+3 pattern with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects from any of the Universities in Kerala or of any University recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto for admission subject to the stipulation regarding marks

However, double and triple main candidates of Kerala University and other Universities will be considered for admission only if they furnish the copies of the eligibility certificate form any of the University in Kerala along with application stating that their qualifying examination is recognized for seeking admission to B.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impaired) degree course

Minimum marks for B.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impaired) admission is 50% for the science subjects and 45% for the arts subjects in part III; or

A minimum of 50% marks for Part-I English of B.A./B.Sc degree examination for English optional

They should also possess a Master’s degree in English with not less than 50% marks

Applicants should have secured 45% marks in aggregate (I+II+III)

SC/ST candidates with pass graduation and post graduation in the respective optional subjects are eligible for admission

Socially and educationally backward community (SEBC) candidates will be given 3% concession for Part-III/Part-I English, Part-II and PG

OEC candidates will be given 5% concession for Part-III/Part-I English, Part-II and PG

B.A. degree with English Language and Literature/Functional English with 45% marks for Part-III or B.A./B.Sc with 50% marks for Part-I English and not less than 50% marks for masters degree in English Language and Literature

B.A. degree with Malayalam language with literature with 45% marks for Part-III or B.A./B.Sc with 50% marks for Part-II Malayalam and not less than 50% marks for M.A. Malayalam Language and Literature

B.Sc degree with Mathematics or Statistics or applied statistics main with 50% marks, for Part-III

Candidates with Statistics/Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects

B.Sc degree with Physics/Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/B.Sc Geology/B.Sc Petro Chemicals/B.Sc Bio-Chemistry main with 50% marks for Part-III

B.Sc degree with Botany/Zoology/B.Sc Bio-Chemistry/B.Sc Plant Science/Aquaculture with Bio- Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries with 50% marks for Part-III

B.A. degree with History/Arabic and Islamic History main with 45% marks for Part-III or B.A. degree with Geography/Politics/Economics/Sociology/Psychology/Philosophy under Part-III (45% marks)

Bachelor degree with Geography as main subject under Part-III with 45% marks

Candidates who have secured M.Com degree with not less than 45% marks alone are eligible for admission

Home Science candidates, who have secured M.Sc degree in Home Science with not less than 45% alone are eligible for admission to the B.Ed course in Home Science, such candidates are not eligible for admission to any other B.Ed course

MCA/M.Sc Computer Science/M.Sc Electronics with a minimum of 45% marks

B.P.Ed (2 semesters): Any degree or equivalent as recognised by Calicut University and should be below 25 years of age as on 01st July of the academic year in which admission is sought

Should be physically fit for daily heavy load of exercises

Relaxation upto 5 years for SC/ST candidates and sports stars in AIU approved

Games/Sports (only 3 years performance be considered for relaxation (should be unmarried)

MSW (4 semesters): Bachelors degree in any discipline recognised by the University of Calicut with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks

Aggregate marks means the total marks obtained for Part-I English and Part-III (main and subsidiary) subjects

For those disciplines, which do not have English, only main and subsidiary marks will be taken into consideration

M.Sc (Applied Psychology) under CCSS (4 semesters): Candidates who have opted Psychology as one of the papers in Part-III either main or sub

M.Sc (Food Science and Technology) (4 semesters): 50% marks in Part-III optional in any B.Sc degree and approved by this University with Mathematics as one of the optional subject in 10+2 or B.Sc level

M.A. (Folklore) (4 semesters): Any graduation recognised by UGC /Calicut University with a minimum of 45% marks

Those who are having post graduation are also eligible for admission

MCJ (4 semesters): Bachelor degree of this University or any other University recognised as equivalent by Calicut University with an aggregate of 45% marks

Professional graduates will be considered, if they secure 60% marks in overall subjects

For backward community and SC/ST candidates, the minimum aggregate marks required to apply will be as per University rules at the graduate level

MBA (4 semesters): Any student who has passed any degree of the University of Calicut (including degree programmes of School of Distance Education, University of Calicut) or that of any other University or institute or institution recognized by the UGC or AICTE

Programmes of other universities or institutions shall be in 10+2+3 pattern (or 10+2+4) under regular stream

In all cases, the student should have passed the degree examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate including the marks of languages if any (without approximation, that is 49.9999% is not eligible since it is less than 50%) is eligible for admission

However, SC/ST/OBC and other eligible communities shall be given relaxation as per University rules

For MBA admission, there will be no university examination

Students having valid MAT/CUMAT/CMAT score only can apply

These applicants need to attend only for group discussion and personal interview

Master of Hospital Administration (MHA): Pass in any Bachelor Degree of the University of Calicut or institution recognised by the University of Calicut, UGC or AICTE as equivalent to the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes of other Universities or Institutions under 10+2+3 pattern under regular stream of study with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (without approximation, that is, 49.9999% is not eligible since it is less than 50%) is eligible for admission

SC/ST/OBC and other eligible communities shall be given relaxation as per University rules

Master of Computer Applications (MCA) (6 semesters): A pass in any Bachelor’s degree course of minimum three years duration with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects

Candidate should have passed a bachelor’s degree course which is recognized by University of Calicut

Candidate should have scored at least 50% marks in aggregate (including subjects and languages) in the bachelor’s degree course

5% of relaxation in the marks will be allowed in the case of candidates, belonging to socially and educationally backward classes

Candidates belonging to SC/ST need only a pass in the Bachelor’s degree course

Final year regular Bachelor’s degree students are also permitted to appear for the entrance examination subject to the condition that the entire mark lists of all parts of the qualifying examination shall be produced by the candidate at the time of allotment

Application Procedure: Applications are to be submitted on line from 12th June, 2012 to 04th July, 2012, 05.00 p.m. University website is www.universityofcalicut.info

Signed print out of application bearing passport size photograph attested by the Gazetted Officer along with the original Challan receipt for having remitted the fee of Rs 300/- (Rs 100/- for SC/ST candidates on the basis of valid community certificate issued by the competent authority) to Calicut University funds in Calicut University fee counter/Govt Treasuries/Designated Branches of SBT/Janasevankendra or demand draft (only in the case of out of state candidates) drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Calicut payable at SBT Calicut University Branch; and attested copies of certificates as proof of qualifications, age and community should be forwarded to the Head of the Department/Co-ordinator/ Director as the case may be so as to reach on or before 04th July, 2012, 05.00 p.m.

The online Registration ID Number should be written by the candidate on reverse side of the Challan receipt/ demand draft as the case may be

This ID Number should also be mentioned by the candidate in all future communications

Those who are awaiting the results of the qualifying examination can also apply

They have to submit the copies of mark list to the Head/Director/Co-ordinator, as the case may be, within 6 days of the publication of Calicut University/Govt examination results in order to finalise the rank list in stipulated time

The Heads/Directors/Co-ordinators are authorized to conduct entrance examination and admission as per rules and allot students to affiliated colleges by 20th August, 2012

Allotment to the affiliated colleges will be made to fill the merit seat (50% of the total intake)

Candidates of undergraduate programmes of this University under CCSS UG-2009 admissions awaiting results can also apply

The eligibility of such candidates (those passed out under grading pattern (Choice Based Credit Semester System-UG) will be issued later

Such students have to comply with the eligibility criteria fixed accordingly for admission to various courses

Candidates should give an undertaking to this effect
