IIFPT BTech M.Tech & PhD Admission 2018 - Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), (Formerly Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology) Thanjavur invites application for admissions to Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech), Master of Technology (M. Tech) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) Courses commencing in the session 2018-19

Considering the importance of this vital sector, IIFPT offers the following academic programs, which are affiliated, to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore.

Courses Offered

IIFPT offering B. Tech, M. Tech, and Ph.D Programs (full time and regular basis) in Food Process Engineering since 2009

  • B. Tech ((Food Technology) Program will be of 4 years or 8 semester duration
  • M. Tech ((Food Process Engineering / Food Science and Technology) will be of 2 years or 6 trimester duration
  • Ph D ((Food Process Engineering) will be of 3 years or 9 trimester durations

  • Date of Commencement:  7th May 2018                                          
  • Date of Closure: 14th July 2018                                                                                                                        
  • Last date for submission of printed application form is on or before:  20th July 2018    

For B. Tech (Food Technology)

  • Date of Commencement: 7th May 2018                                                                                 
  • Date of Closure:  22nd June 2018                                                                                                                            
  • Last date for submission of printed application form is on or before: 27th June 2018

Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process

Undergraduate - B. Tech (Food Technology)
  • Only those candidates who have appeared in JEE (Main)-2018 (Paper-1) will be eligible for getting admission at IIFPT.
  • JEE appeared candidates who have passed 12th Examination with aggregate 55% marks for GEN,50% marks for OBC Candidates and merely passed for reserved category (SC/ST/Pwd) candidates are eligible to get admission at IIFPT.
Selection Criteria
  • Selection is based purely on All India Rank of JEE (Main)-2018
  • Reservation policy based on government norms

  • Total No. of Seat - 60
  • OP* = 29; OP PwD* = 02; OBC-NCL* = 16; SC = 09; ST= 4* (OP = Open Category; OP PwD = Physical Handicap-Open Category; Non Creamy Layer)
Postgraduate - M. Tech (Food Process Engineering)
  • Should have passed a four year BE/B. Tech degree in any of the following discipline like Food Process Engineering/Agricultural and Food Engineering/Food Technology and Management / Food Processing and Preservation Technology/Food Technology/Dairy Engineering/Chemical Engineering
  • A candidate who has undergone course credit system with a minimum OGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or 7.00 out of 10 or 70% aggregate alone is eligible to apply. However, for SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying degree is sufficient

Selection Process:
  • Selection is purely based on merit basis only
  • Ranking will be done based on undergraduate marks 30% weightage and IIFPT Post Graduate Entrance Examination 70% weightage
  • IIFPT Post Graduate Entrance Examination will be conducted only at IIFPT Thanjavur main campus
  • Reservation policy based on government norms

Postgraduate - M. Tech (Food Science and Technology)

Should have passed a 4 year Bachelor’s degree in any of the following discipline like Food Process Engineering/Agricultural Engineering /Food Technology/Food Science and Technology/Home Science/Food Science and Nutrition/Food Science and Quality Control/Dairy Technology/Food Technology and Management/Food Processing and Preservation Technology/Post Harvest Technology/Food Processing Technology

A candidate who has undergone course credit system with a minimum OGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or 7.00 out of 10 or 70% aggregate alone is eligible to apply. However for SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying degree is sufficient.

Selection Process:
  • Selection is purely based on merit basis only
  • Ranking will be done based on undergraduate marks 30% weightage and IIFPT Post Graduate Entrance Examination 70% weightage

Doctoral Program - PhD (Food Process Engineering)

  • Should have passed a four year bachelors and a 2 years M.E./M.Tech degree in any of the following discipline like Food Process Engineering /Post Harvest Technology / Agricultural and Food Engineering / Agricultural Process Engineering / Dairy and Food Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Food Science and Technology
  • A candidate who has undergone course credit system with a minimum OGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or 7.00 out of 10 or 70% aggregate alone is eligible to apply. However for SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying degree is sufficient.
Selection Process:
  • Selection is purely based on merit basis and ranking order only.
  • Ranking will be done based on undergraduate & postgraduate marks and short written test followed by oral interview marks only at IIFPT Thanjavur main campus
  • Reservation policy based on government norms

No. of Seats: 10 numbers in total for all India level

Application Procedure

  • Applicants are requested to read the instructions carefully for filling online application form
  • Students can apply only through online submission; printed application forms are not issued. Before filling the online application form
  • Candidates who are interested to apply both M.Tech Programs, Separate application form needs to be submitted for each program.
  • Candidate should pay application fee though online
  • Keep the Soft copy of passport size photograph (3.5 x 3.5 cm less than 30 kb size.)
  • Please ensure the information's filled in the application form are correct, before submitting the form; Applicant should give the correct Email ID and Mobile Number (Compulsory)
  • The copy of filled-in submitted application form will be generated in .pdf format. Once the applicant is successfully registered, the Registration Number will be allotted for the submitted application form
  • Applicant can print the generated form (PDF) and send along with the self attested photocopies of the certificates as mentioned in last page of the generated form (check list)
  • Once the application is submitted, it cannot be edited again! If any discrepancies, found during official verification, the application may be subjected to rejection
  • Use application registration number for all further future references and correspondences
  • Candidate should thoroughly verify the contents of the printed documents; the candidate should sent the photo copy of Community Certificate in the prescribed format (OBC-NCL, SC / ST, PWD  (Form-I/ Form-II/Form-III)) along with application form
Other General Instructions
  • Application Fee is Rs.600/- for General/OBC-NCL and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST/PWD Candidates Payment should be made by Debit Card/Credit Card / Net Banking should make payment only
  • Hard copies of the printed application form along with the necessary documents (10th Marksheet, JEE Admit Card - 2018 & Community Certificate - As per prescribed format) with payment details should be sent on or before the prescribe date, to the address mentioned below. The envelope should be mentioned with superscript as B. Tech (Food Technology)/ M.Tech(FPE)/M.Tech(FST)/PhD(FPE) 2018-19
