Birsa Agricultural University PG Admission Notice for the Session 2016-17

Applications are invited for admission to Doctoral Degree Programmes in Agriculture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Forestry and Master’s Programme in Agriculture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Forestry and Biotechnology for the session 2016-17 from the residents of Jharkhand state only (except Doctoral programmes which is opened to all India citizens)

The candidates of other states who have graduated from the university can also apply

Programmes Offered at Birsa Agricultural University

I. Doctoral Programme

a) Agriculture - Agricultural Entomology, Agricultural Extension Education, Agronomy, Horticulture, Mycology and Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry

b) Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry: Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Live Stock Production and Management, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, Veterinary Physiology

c) Forestry: Silviculture and Agro-Forestry

Eligibility Criteria: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry/Forestry; minimum overall grade point average (OGPA) 6.00/10 or 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent percentage of marks at Master’s degree level. A candidate can apply for Doctoral Programme only in the Major subject of study at Master’s level

Merit list will be prepared in 10 point scale on the basis of OGPA (overall grade point average) earned by the candidate at Master’s degree level

The requirement of percentage of marks may be relaxed to the extent of 5% for such candidates who have published original research papers in standard scientific journals

Candidates appearing in final year exams can also apply but he/she must submit required certificates at the time of counseling followed by admission

II. Master’s Programme

a) Agriculture: Agricultural Entomology, Agricultural Extension Education, Agricultural Physics and Meteorology, Agricultural Statistics, Agronomy, Horticulture, Mycology and Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry

b) Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry: Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Live Stock Production and Management, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Parasitological, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology

c) Forestry: Basic Science and Humanities, Forest Products and Utilization, Natural Resources Management, Silviculture and Agro-Forestry

d) Biotechnology: Biotechnology (Hons) Stream, Agriculture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Forestry

Eligibility Criteria: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (4 years course), Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (5 years course) and Forestry (4 years course) for admission to M.Sc. (Ag.), M.V. Sc. and M.Sc. (Forestry) Programme respectively. However, for admission to M.Sc. (Biotech), B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biotechnology is essential

Minimum overall grade point average (OGPA) and subject grade point average (SGPA) 6.00 100 or 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent percentage of marks in aggregate at Bachelor’s degree level for general and BC-IIBC-II candidates and for SC/ST candidates 5.50 11 0.00 OGPA ISGPA or equivalent percentage of marks is required

Candidates appearing in final year exams can also apply but he/she must submit required certificates at the time of counseling which will follow admission

Residential Requirements

For admission to Master’s Programme to each discipline, residential requirement for Jharkhand state as specified below is essential, while the seats of Doctoral Programme are open to all eligible candidate and the residential requirement is not necessary. The applications for admission in Master’s degree programme shall have to append a residential certificate to qualify the requirement of admission

Reservation of seats will be in accordance with the Jharkhand govt policy and will be followed in alphabetical cyclic orders of the PG Department in Agriculture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Forestry and Biotechnology

Reservation of Seats will be in accordance with the Jharkhand Govt. Policy and Roster will be followed in alphabetical cyclic orders of the PG Dept. in Agriculture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Forestry and Biotechnology (The details of seats are given at Annexure-I)

The Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained from 30th July to 24th August 2016 in person during office hour from the office of the Registrar, Birsa Agricultural University, Kanke, Ranchi-834006 on cash payment of Rs.50/- only; the application form along with admit card and processing fee (non-refundable) of Rs.1000/- for General /BC-I / BC-II and Rs.500/- for ST/SC candidates in the form of Bank Draft from any nationalized Bank payable to Comptroller, Birsa Agricultural University, Kanke, Ranchi-834006 may be sent to address

Application received late or incomplete will be rejected suo-moto
