The selection process will consist of Physical Standards Test (PST)/Physical Efficiency Test (PET), written examination for PST/PET qualified candidates and Medical Examination for candidates short listed on the basis of written examination
Vacancies are likely to increase and will be finalized before the written examination
The written examination will consist of Matriculation level questions on General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and Awareness, Elementary Mathematics and English or Hindi

The number of questions, their prescribed marks and time-limit in this written examination of different subject in their question paper are as follows

Time-limit for General Candidates: Two Hours
All questions in the question paper will be of objective (MCQs) type. In these questions, you have to chose one correct answer from given four options. The questions of General Ability and Reasoning, Numerical Ability and General Awareness in this question paper will be in both English and Hindi language
It will include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidates abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions
Candidates’ understanding the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, common errors, etc his/her writing ability would be tested
This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and Relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work etc
Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an education person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline
SSC exams are famous for high competition, as the number of candidates appearing exam is much more than the post advertised. Hence, serious and focused preparation is a must. The examination is of MCQs, needed to be completed in a stipulated time span. Therefore, speed and accuracy in answering questions is very important. That can be achieved only with methodical study and regular practice of MCQs. And the best option for this is to read/follow consistently a book which is written for this exam of SSC, exclusively. However in general, one can follow the tips given below for the preparation of the exam
For General Awareness, make the habit of reading news papers daily, and practice GK
Revise Mathematics up to class VIII-syllabus
Practice English Grammar, from good high school level grammar book
Practice MCQs, as much as possible
Time yourself while practicing MCQs
Attempt the paper with a calm and composed mind
