Thapar University Announces Admission for BE/B.Tech Program 2023 Dates, Eligibility, Application Process

 

Thapar University BE B.Tech Admission 2023 – Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (Deemed to be University) Patiala invites applications from interested candidates for admission to first-year of BE / B.Tech Programs for the academic session 2023

Important Dates

  • Online application forms will be available: December 14, 2022
  • Last date of receipt of application forms: January 16, 2023
  • Date of Offline Entrance Test: January 22, 2023
  • Venue for Offline Entrance Test: Patiala and New Delhi
  • Timing for Offline Entrance Test: 10:00 AM – 01:00 PM
  • Display of list of qualified candidates: January 25, 2023
  • Counselling for admission & deposit of fee: January 27, 2023

 

Eligibility Criteria

BE/BTech Programs 

  • Admission to BE/BTech programs shall be conducted through two modes. Applicants are required to fill application form one time only and on the basis of a single application form, they can seek admission through any mode, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

Mode – 1: (Based on JEE Main – 2023 score) for 50% of seats

  • 50% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of percentile based merit of JEE Main – 2023.
  • The candidate
    • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject*.
    • has appeared in JEE Main – 2023.
    • possesses a good moral character.
    • is a citizen of India.
    • has passed 10+2 examinations in 2020, 2021 or appearing in 2023.
  • In the final round of counselling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode-1 shall be filled through Mode-2 and vice versa.
  • The admission shall be made on the percentile based merit of JEE Main – 2023.

Mode – 2: (Based on 10+2 marks in PCM) for 50% of seats

  • 50% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.
  • The candidate
    • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject*.
    • has appeared in JEE Main 2023 .
    • possesses a good moral character.
    • is a citizen of India.
    • has passed 10+2 examinations in 2021, 2022 or appearing in 2023.
  • In the final round of counselling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode-2 shall be filled through Mode-1 and vice versa.
  • NOTE: In case any state board issues a single transcript/DMC mentioning the marks in 10+1 and 10+2, then for such boards, average PCM marks of both 10+1 and 10+2 will be taken into account while preparing the merit of Mode – 2.

 

BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) programme

  • In addition to the eligibility mentioned above in (A), admission to BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) programmes shall be conducted through following two modes as well.

Mode – 1: (Based on NEET – 2023 score) for 50% of the available seats*

  • 50% of the available seats in BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) shall be filled on the basis of merit of NEET 2023.
  • The candidate
    • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in an aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
    • has appeared in NEET – 2023.
    • possesses a good moral character.
    • is a citizen of India.
    • is born on or after October 1, 1997 (5-years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates).
  • In the final round of counselling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode-1 shall be filled through Mode-2 and vice versa.

Mode – 2: (Based on 10+2 marks in PCB) for 50% of the available seats*

  • 50% of the available seats in BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • The candidate
    • has passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with at least 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates) in an aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
    • possesses a good moral character.
    • is a citizen of India.

  • *NOTE: – For BTech – Biotechnology and BTech – Biomedical Engineering, 50% (30) seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCM background and 50% (30) seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCB background.

Selection Process

  • The selection first list will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in JEE Main 2023
