JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern – Admission Criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Exam, JEE (Main).

The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test to appear for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the IITs.

 

NTA has brought in new changes in Exam Pattern for the JEE Main 2021.New pattern includes changes in the type of questions, marks distribution, mode of exam, exam duration, etc.

 

Type of Exam

  • JEE (Main) 2021 exam shall have two papers, Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.), Paper-2 A(B. Arch) and Paper 2 B (B. Planning). Candidates may take Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.) or Paper-2 A (B. Arch or Paper 2 B (B.Planning.) or all 3 papers as per the course(s) they wish to take admission to.
  • Type of Questions (Paper 1): Objective Type – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Type of Questions (Paper 2 A): Mathematics and aptitude section will be objective type questions and the drawing test will be subjective to be attempted on a drawing sheet.
  • Types of Questions (Paper 2 B): Objective Type – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Four marks will be provided for each correct answer.
  • In MCQ questions, for every wrong answer or multiple answers for a question, One mark will be deducted
  • In the numerical questions, there will be no negative marking

 

Mode of Examination

  • B.E. /B. Tech. in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
  • B. Arch: Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test –Part III in “Pen & Paper Based” (offline) mode to be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size.
  • B.Planning : Mathematics- Part I , Aptitude Test-Part II and Planning Based Questions Part III in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only

 

Medium of the Question Papers:

  • Drawing form the National Education Policy (NEP), the JEE (Main) 2021 will now be conducted for the first time in Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu for the first time, in addition to Hindi, Gujarati and English.

*Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.

Paper 2 A – (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in Pen & Paper Based (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.

Paper- 2 A (For B.Arch) [Subject: Mathematics –Part 1, Aptitude Test – Part II] – Computer Based Test (CBT) mode Only and [Drawing Test – Part III] Pen & Paper Based (offline) mode to be attempted on the Drawing sheet
