Anna Hazare
Kisan Baburao Hazare, popularly known as Anna Hazare is a social activist and a prominent leader in the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement, using non-violent methods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. He was born on 15th June 1937 in Bhingar, Bombay Provinice, British India. Anna Hazare is unmarried.
In 2011, Hazare initiated a Satyagraha movement for passing a stronger anti-corruption Lokpal (ombudsman) bill in the Indian Parliament as conceived in the Jan Lokpal Bill (People’s Ombudsman Bill). The Jan Lokpal Bill was drafted earlier by N. Santosh Hegde, former justice of the Supreme Court of India and Lokayukta of Karnataka, Prashant Bhushan, a senior lawyer in the Supreme Court and Arvind Kejriwal, a social activist along with members of the India Against Corruption movement. On 16th August 2011, Hazare was arrested before the planned indefinite hunger strike. He was released unconditionally without any bail bond by the magistrate on a request by the police, but Hazare refused to leave. Tihar Jail and continued his fast inside the jail and refused to leave the jail through the jail authorities and technically released him.

Hazare’s team launches website for campaign publicity
Lucknow, Aug 13 To provide “standard publicity material” for social activist Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, the Lucknow team of India Against Corruption (IAC) has launched a website, an official said Saturday.
www.iacbranding.org offers a host of designs and graphics for banners, hoardings, T-shirts and other items that could be used for extending support to Hazare’s campaign.
“The website intends to offer graphics and designs for the branding and projection of the crusade,” Sunil Lal, in-charge of designing the publicity material, told reporters here.

New Delhi, Aug 13 Unhappy over restrictions put by Delhi Police, social activist Anna Hazare Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh complaining that the order restricting his fast to three days was a violation of fundamental rights.
Hazare, in a two-page letter, said the constitution allows every citizen to hold peaceful protest and stopping them is violation of their fundamental rights.
“I am writing to you with a hope that you will protect our fundamental right. It is your duty to protect the democracy and constitution and I am hopeful that you will take some action regarding this,” Hazare said.

Anna to meet parliamentary panel, says Lokpal Bill eyewash
New Delhi, Aug 10 Anna Hazare and other civil society activists Wednesday said they would meet a parliamentary panel on the Lokpal Bill in the evening, but expected little from it as the government was not serious about tackling corruption.
“Today’s (parliamentary) standing committee meeting is more of a formality because the bill presented by the government is not worth being discussed and it will only waste the time of parliament,” Arvind Kejriwal, a key member of Team Anna, told reporters.
