Amitabh Mattoo declines the appointment as VC
Amitabh Mattoo has declined to take up his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of the Jammu Central University, citing personal reasons. Professor Mattoo met HRD Minister Kapil Sibal on February 3, 2011 to convey his decision.
President Pratibha Patil, in her capacity as Visitor of all central universities, had approved the appointment of Prof. Mattoo as the Vice-Chancellor of the university in December 2010.
Mattoo is currently professor of Disarmament Studies at the Centre for International Politics, Organisation and Disarmament (CIPOD), School of International Studies in the Jawaharlal Nehru University. His teaching and research interests include issues of international security, India’s foreign policy and arms control and disarmament.
