ADMISSION OF RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE SCHOOL OF

TECHNOLOGY & COMPUTER SCIENCE

 

Applications are invited for Research Scholarships leading to Ph.D degree in the School of Technology & Computer Science of the Institute from bright young students aspiring for a career of research in Computer Science, Communication & Control. The Institute provides facilities for active research in various areas of computer Science, Communications & Control in an atmosphere of academic excellence.

Selection of Research Scholars will be made on the basis of performance of written test and interviews to be held on a date of November at TIFR, Mumbai. The basic requirement for research are exceptional talent, strong motivation and commitment to research. • Areas of Research: Algorithms & Complexity, Crytography, Computational Geometry, Logic and Concurrency, Formal Specification & Verification, Real-time Embedded Systems, Computer Network & Architecture, E-Commerce Applications and Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Control Theory, Speech/Signal Processing and communications.
• Eligibility: B.E/B.Tech/ME/M Tech in Computer Science/Electrical/Communications/Control as appropriate for the area of work. In exceptional cases M.Sc in Mathematics/Physics with aptitude in the respective areas may also be considered. Students who are likely to complete their final degree examinations before February, may also apply.
• Financial Assistance & Accommodation: Research Scholars receive a monthly stipend, which is currently Rs. 5400 (Rs. 6000 after two years/registration)contingency grants and hostel accommodation at a nominal cost.
• How to Apply: Request for application form enclosing a self-addressed stamped (Rs. 9) envelope (8” * 11”) super scribed STCS-(year) is to be sent to The Establishment Officer, Tate Institute of Fundamental Research, Home Bhakhra Road , Collabra, Mumbai-400002. Forms can also be downloaded from our website.

The last date for receipt of completed application form is a date of October. Candidates who are short listed for appearing in test/interview will be notified before a date of October. The test/interview will be held at TIFR, Mumbai on a date of November. Candidates are advised to make appropriate travel arrangements in advance.

Candidates called for test/interview will be paid a part of the to-and-fro railway fare by second class (Sleeper class for travel beyond 500 kames) and also a sum of Rs 105 as halting allowance for the day of the interview.

Notifications for the programme are issued in September.
