ES. 5 SECTION
BELGIAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Typed applications in duplicate in the prescribed format are invited form Indian Nationals residing in India for the award of 3 Belgian Government Scholarships each of a duration of ten months in the following 3 subjects for postgraduate studies:
- 1. Agronomy 2. Environmental Science 3. Technical Metallurgy
- Qualifications: (a) Applicants should have obtained a first class postgraduate degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in the relevant subject. Candidates with Ph.D. degrees will not be considered as they cannot have a student status at Flemish universities. (b) Scholar-ships are only valid for studies at 29 institutions of higher education recognised by the Ministry of the Flemish Community. (c) The applicant should not exceed 35 years. (d) Applicants should have given proof of previous excellent academic performance and have a good account of English or another European language.
- Allowances: Accepted scholars will receive (i) A monthly grant of 27.200 BEF during one academic year (10 months). (ii) Tuition fee upto a maximum of 18.800 BEF. (iii) An extensive medical and third party liability insurance.
N.B.: Travelling expenses from India to Belgium and back will be borne either by the candidate or his/he employers/sponsors.
- Last Date: Applications in duplicate along with the following documents must reach the Section Officer, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary Education & Higher Education, ES. 5 Section, A-1/W-3 Curzon Road Barracks, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi-110 001 latest by a date of March.
- Enclosures: (i) Attested Photostat copies of all educational degrees/certificates starting from Matriculation/Higher Secondary. (ii) Attested Photostat copy of the `No Objection Certificate’ obtained from the employer. (iii) A certificate of fluency in English or other European Language. (iv) An extensive curriculum vitae. (v) A comprehensive motivation of the applicant for the scholarship. (Vi) A comprehensive work scheme. (vii) A recent passport size photograph of the candidate to be affixed on the prescribed application form. (viii) Letters or recommendations from two referees preferably from Professors who have taught him/her.
Note: (1) Applications received after last date will not be entertained. (2) Incomplete applications will not be considered. (3) The selected candidates will avail of the scholarship in all cases. Therefore, an undertaking that he/she will not refuse the offer should be sent in duplicate along with the application. (4) In case of candidates qualifying from Universities/Institution which do not give class or division, requirements in lieu of first class will be 60% marks. Where grades are awarded, the candidates are required to furnish exact percentage of marks and indicate the conversion formula. (5) Applications of candidates who reside abroad will not be entertained. (6) Candidates who have already been abroad for study/specialization/training either on scholarship or on their own for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply if they have been in India for atleast two consecutive years as on 1 st March of the specified year after their return abroad. However, scholars under the scheme of scholarship for Study Abroad have to complete 5 years stay in India on their return from abroad before applying for the scholarship. (7) Candidates who are employed must apply through their employers. No Objection Certificate from the employer must be produced on or before the time of interview failing which they will not be allowed for interview. (8) The candidates should have sufficient knowledge of the geographical situation and cultural heritage of India and Belgium. (9) Final Selection rests with the Belonging Government. (10) The decision of the Selection Committee shall be final. No representation will be entertained in this regard. (11) Candidate can apply for only one subject. (12) Candidates who do not possess the requisite qualifications need not apply. (13) No canvassing in any form will be entertained. (14) Application should be typed and complete in a respect and to be submitted in duplicate.
