JORDAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP

• Applications are invited on plain paper from Indian nations in the prescribed format for award of two scholarships in the subject field of Arabic Language and Literature of offered by the Government of Jordan for postgraduate studies.
  
  • Duration: Two years
  • Age: Below 35 years as on a date of July.
  • Qualification: The Candidate should have secured a minimum of 70% aggregate marks in his Bachelor’s Degree examination with the related subject field. The candidates who have secured 60% marks and above but below 70% marks may also apply but their candidature will be considered only if sufficient number of candidates with 70% and above marks are not available.
  • Value of Scholarship: The following facilities will be provided:
  • Jordanian Dinars (JD) 60 per month for male scholars to Jordanian universities.
  • JD 50 per month for female scholars to Jordanian universities in addition to housing in female dormitories.
  • JD 15 per month for students to institutions and community colleges in addition to free board and lodging.
  • Extention from university fees.
  • JD 30 for books. Free medical treatment according to the rules of the institution concerned.
    
  • Passage Cost: Travel expenses from India to Jordan including travel from the airport to the place of study and back will have to be borne by the candidate or his/her employer/sponsor.
  • Documents to be Attached: Attested photocopies of all degrees/certificates, mark-sheets, the certificate indicating date of birth and personal biodata.
  • Last Date for Submission of Application: Application on plain paper (as per format given) along with the required photocopies of documents, with a copy of recent passport size photograph pasted on application, should reach the Section Officer, ES.3 Section, ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary Education & Higher Education, A-1/W-3 Curzon Road Barracks, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi-110001 latest by a date of November. Applications received after that date will not be entertained.

Note: (1) Equivalent foreign degree will also be considered. (2) Candidates who have already been abroad for study/training/specialization for more than six months on a scholarship or on his/her own are eligible to apply only if they stayed in India for at least two consecutive years after their return from abroad as on first July. (3) Applications from candidates who are staying abroad at the time of application will not be considered. (4) Nomination of a candidate by Government of India does not guarantee final selection or placement. The Government of Jordan will make its own selection out of the nominees. If no communication is received from his Ministry on the application till a date in December, it may be presumed that the applicant has not been considered suitable for nomination to the scholarship. (5) Mere fulfillment off minimum requirements laid down in the advertisement does not qualify a candidate for interview. Interview letters are sent only to a limited number off candidates after their applications are examined by the Selection Committee. (6) Applications must be accompanied by attested copies of certificates regarding date of birth, diplomas, degrees, mark-sheets in respect of all the examinations passed along with experience certificate of Employment, if employed and one copy of recently taken passport size photograph with signature (to be pasted on the application form). Self-attested certificate duly attested by Gazetted Officer or a Notary needs to be submitted. (7) In case of candidates qualifying from Universities, institutions which do not give class or division and where grades are awarded, the candidates are required to furnish exact percentage of marks and indicate the conversion formula. (8) While indicating the period of past experience and stay abroad, candidates should mention the specific dates. (9) As these scholarships are offered by foreign Governments, the applications should be submitted in English only. (10) Candidates not possessing requisite qualification need not apply. (11) Incomplete applications and applications received late after the stipulated date will not be considered and no correspondence will be entertained. (12) Documents submitted along with the application will not be returned. Hence, candidates are advised to Committee shall be final. No representation in this regard will be entertained (14) Candidates should have sufficient knowledge about Jordan as well as of India. (15) Employed candidates must send their applications through their employers with `No Objection Certificate’. However, an advance application can be submitted with the understanding that the application through employer should reach before the date of interview. Advance application must be complete in all respects. Employed candidates will not be allowed to appear for interview without `No Objection Certificate’. (16) It is very important that applicants who are in employment to which they wish to return should have an assurance that if their nomination is successful, they will be granted sufficient leave of absence. (17) Canvassing by candidates in any form will disqualify him/he for consideration of the scholarship.
