INDIAN COUNCIL OF SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCHYY
AWARD OF DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS IN SOCIAL SCIENCES
- Applications are invited for the award of Doctoral Fellowships in Social Sciences under the following schemes:
A. Centrally Administered Doctoral Fellowships:
- Open Fellowship (interdisciplinary orientation) (30).
- Fellowships for Students of North Eastern Region (4).
- Fellowships for Physically Handicapped/Disabled Persons (5).
- ICSSR Foundation Day Fellowship (1).

(Number in bracket indicates available fellowships in that category).
B. Institutional Doctoral Fellowships are tenable at seventeen Research Institutes at various places in India . For details see advertisement in Employment News.
- Eligibility: 1. Postgraduation in social sciences with a least 55 per cent marks. 2. Candidates must have cleared EligibilityTest (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship in Social Sciences held by UGC/CSIR. The applicant must be registered for Ph.D or should be able to complete the registration formalities within six months of Joining the fellowship. Selected scholars (for Institutional fellowship) will have to be registered under the supervision of one of the faculty members of the respective institutes.
- Age: The upper age limit for JRF/Doctoral fellow is 35 years (Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and women candidates). In exceptional cases where a candidate is found to have outstanding ability, the age limit may be relaxed marginally at the discretion of ICSSR.
- Last Date for the receipt of completed application form is a date of January.
- Value of Fellowship: A Selected candidate will be paid a fellowship amount of Rs. 6,000 per month for the first two year extendable by one year in exceptional cases plus Rs 12,000 per annum as Contigency Grant, Fellowship will be available for a maximum period of 4 years. B. Under the Salary Protection Scheme, employed scholar will get his/her salary for two years plus Contingency Grant @ of Rs. 12000 P.A. The duration of this fellowship is two years.
