Indian Scholarships Guide

Applications are invited on plain paper from India nationals in the prescribed format for award of scholarship offered by the Government of Arab Republic or Egypt for the academic year. The details of scholarships are as under: (A) 8 scholarships for postgraduate studies, post-doctoral research and training for a period of three years each in the subject field of Arabic language. (B) 3 scholarships to study at Egyptian Universities for a period of one academic year (renewable) each, two of them in the field of Arabic language and one of them in the field of fine Arts. (C) 2-3 scholarships for practical training in Arabic language and Arabic English interpretation for a period of one academic year (renewable) each.

Value of Scholarship: (a) Universities scholarships (i) LE 300 monthly allowance (ii) LE 300 to be paid (once) upon arrival for preparation purposes; and (iii) LE 50 accommodation allowance in case university’s accommodation is not provided. (iv) Internal travel expenses related to the nature of studies. (b) Higher Studies Scholarships: (i) LE 350 monthly allowance; (ii) LE 350 to be paid (once) upon arrival for preparation purposes; (iii) LE 50 accommodation allowance in case university’s accommodation is not provided. (iv) Internal travel expenses related to the nature of studies; Free medical care in Govt. hospital and free tuition, examination and other compulsory fees. These sums shall be exempt from all taxes.
Qualifications: (i) 55% marks in aggregate at degree level for Post Graduate studies and 55% marks in aggregate at Master level and Ph.D. degree for Post Doctoral studies for 8 scholarships mentioned at (A) and 6 scholarships mentioned at (B) above. (ii) 55% at Master level for Arabic language and 60% at BFA degree/diploma (equivalent to degree level for 3 scholarships mentioned at (B) above). (iii) 60% at degree level with minimum two years experience in the field for 2-3 scholarships mentioned at (C) above.
No Age Limit: However, the time gap between obtaining the last qualifying degree and last date for application for scholarship, i.e., on a date of June, should not be more than four years.
Applicants for Fine Arts course should submit 4 photographs of their recent art works along with application.
Documents to be Attached: Photocopies of all degrees/certificates.
Application on plain paper (as per format) along with the required photocopies of documents with a copy of recent passport size photograph pasted on application should reach the Section Officer E.S-III Section, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, A.1/W.3. Curzon Road Barracks, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi- 110001 latest by a date of June. Application received after that date will not be entertained.

Notes: (1) Equivalent foreign degree will also be considered. (2) Candidates who have already been abroad for study/training/specialization for more than six months on a scholarship or on his/her own are eligible to apply if they stayed in India for atleast two consecutive years after their return from abroad. (3) Applications from candidates who are staying abroad will not be considered. (4) Candidates should have sufficient knowledge about Egypt as well as India. (5) Applications of candidates in a subject field other than subject mentioned above will not be considered. (6) Employed persons must send their applications through their employers with `No Objection Certificate’. However, an advance application can be submitted with the understanding that the application through employer would follow. (7) Candidates not possessing requisite qualifications need not apply (8) Incomplete applications will not be considered. (9) Canvassing in any form will disqualify a candidate. (10) If no communication is received from this Ministry on the application till 31 st July each year, it may be presumed that the applicant has not been considered suitable for nomination for the scholarship.
