THE DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS AND ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA ARE GIVEN BELOW:
1. B.SC. (MLT) (Duration: 3 years)
TOTAL NO. OF SEATS – 30 (Subject to approval by Pondicherry University / Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) {Open General: 9, Other Backward Class: 8, Scheduled Caste: 5, Scheduled Tribe: 2, Sponsored from other Hospital / Institute (Central / State) or other Medical Teaching Institute: 4, Foreign Nationals Nominated by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi: 2}. One seat is reserved for Physically Handicapped Candidates on horizontal reservation basis. Those who have locomotor disability of lower limbs between 50% and 70% are only eligible to apply under this category.

2. B.SC. (NURSING) (Duration: 4 years)
TOTAL NO. OF SEATS - 75 {Open General: 23, Other Backward Class: 14, Open Scheduled Caste: 7, Open Scheduled Tribe: 6, Puducherry General: 15, Puducherry Other Backward Class: 6, Puducherry Scheduled Caste: 4}. 10% of total seats are reserved for male candidates on horizontal reservation basis. Two seats are reserved on horizontal reservation basis for candidates with 40% disability of lower limbs.

3. QUALIFICATIONS
3.1 Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31 st December 2007 (i.e. they should have been born on or before 1 st January 1991 ).
3.2 Should have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination under 10+2 pattern with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) and English as subjects of study or Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational Stream with Medical Laboratory Assistant / Nursing or equivalent examination subject to recognition by the Pondicherry University .
3.3 The applicants should have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology and English individually and should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Botany & Zoology at the qualifying examination. The minimum percentage of marks in the respective subjects will apply to Vocational Stream students also. For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the minimum marks will be 40%. The Educational qualification and pattern of percentage of marks will also be applicable to the sponsored candidates.

5. OTHER DETAILS
5.1 The admission for B.Sc.(MLT) and B.Sc.(Nursing) courses are based on an Entrance Examination which will be held at Puducherry on 22.07.2007(Sunday) from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
5.2 Prospectus and Application form can be obtained in person at Bank of Baroda (Extension Counter), Administrative Block, JIPMER, Puducherry on payment of cash till 22.05.2007 on all working days from 09.30 AM to 03.00 PM and on Saturdays from 09.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon .
5.3 Request for application by post should reach Registrar(Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry – 605 006 on or before 08.05.2007 along with D.D. (any Nationalized bank) for Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, JIPMER, Puducherry”, (Pondicherry).
THE LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF FILLED-IN APPLICATION FROM THE CANDIDATES IS 22.05.2007 TILL 04.30 P.M. APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE DUE DATE WILL BE SUMMARILY REJECTED.
