TIET Patiala, a 50 years old institute with a Deemed University status, launched the School of Business Management in its Golden Jubilee year to reinforce the techno-management education in the country.
TIET ANNOUNCES ADMISION TO THE FOLLOWING COURSES FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2007-08.
- BE-MBA- A 5 year conjugate dual degree programme leading to BE in any discipline and MBA.
- BE (IE) MBA- A 5 year integrated post graduate programme leading to a dual degree in BE (Industrial Engineering)- MBA.
- MBA (IT-NET)- A two year post graduate prgogramme leading to a Master of Business Administration (IT-Networking).
- MBA (MFG)- A two year post graduate programme leading to a master of Business Administration in manufacturing.

MBA (IT NET)- The course offers an opportunity to the Engineering/Science graduates to build on their capability in IT and Computer Networks Management, a high growth area of economic activities in the near future. This is a two year post graduate programme leading to the degree of MBA (IT-NET)
MBA (MFG)- The course offers an opportunity to the students to have an in depth knowledge of the world of manufacturing management. They will appreciate the uncertainties and risk to build on their capability advantage. This aims at converting environment weakness into growth opportunities. This is a two year programme specially designed for Engineering/Science graduates.
ELIGIBILITY- Graduation in any branch of Engineering and Technology or MCA. Candidates with B.Sc/MSc will alos be considered with a one year bridge course specially designed by the School of Business Management. MCA graduates are eligible for MBA (IT-NET) only.
SELECTION- The candidates who have appeared for any of the nationally recognized entrance tests for management education like CAT, MAT, XAT, JMET etc. will be considered for admission through group discussion and personal interview. The candidates who did not take any test will be required to take a test to be offered by SBM in Patiala on a date to be announced through the website. Candidates with work experience are preferred. They must have aptitude towards academic pursuit.
HOW TO APPLY- Candidates can secure the application form cum information brochure on payment of Rs. 1000/- by a crossed DD in favour of Registrar, TIET, Patiala. From AR (Academic) TIET, Patiala. Forms can be downloaded from the website and send along with a DD for the above-mentioned amount. The aspirants should be in constant touch with the institute website.

General Information
The future requirement of techno - managerial skills as postulated by the eminent academicians of India and supported by a few in abroad, is to activate innovation in product, technology and market that impelled the integration of courses of Management and Technology per se. The Programme has the best quality student intake that make it the most sought after programme in the country. This programme provides dual academic certification BE-MBA after the completion of required credits in 10 semesters. Students can opt for this programme after completing the credit requirements of 4 semesters. Students acquire a substantial degree of analytical skill backed by a sound understanding of Technology and Management issues. All these imply that SBM (School of Business Management) 18 graduates are able to visualise the complexity of the real life problems and deliver effectively the situations in a more altruistic way. The need for such an academic initiative was felt for a long time by global industry leaders and academic stalwarts. A few have already taken successful initiative to put in place this programme. ADMISSION
Admission to this programme will be made through AIEEE conducted by CBSE, New Delhi, followed by
a test by the Institute.
Test:- The Students desirous of taking this programme need to apply in the prescribed format after
paying an application fee of Rs 250/-. A test will be conducted to assess the candidate’s strength &
weakness in the following areas.
(i) Aptitude
(ii) Communication Skills & English Comprehension
(iii) Analytical Skills
(iv) Basic Sciences
The test will be followed by GD/ Personal Interview. Final merit list will be prepared considering.
(a) Student’s two years performance represented by CGPA.
(b) Performance in the Test.
(c) Performance in the GD/PI
To apply the candidate must possess a minimum of 6.5 CGPA in the last three semesters.

AWARD OF DEGREES
Two separate degrees will be awarded at the end of five years if all requirements have been completed by the student. There would not be a provision to opt out after four years and earn only BE degree. The student has to complete 5 years programme. If at the end of 5 years study, he/she has completed BE/ B.Tech. component but not the MBA component, he/she may be awarded a BE degree.
