Admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) (five year Integrated practice oriented Programme) - Session 2011-12

Institute of Management Studies Kurukshetra University is going to conduct entrance test for admission to (MBA) Five Year Integrated Practice Oriented Course for session 2011-12.

 

ELIGIBILITY : To apply for Kurukshetra University admission 2011 for MBA 5 year program candidate must have passed Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2 Standard) from a recognized Board of Education or an equivalent Examination having at least 50% marks in aggregate (For SC/ST candidates: 10+2 with minimum pass marks)with English as one of the subjects.

Important dates:


• Last Date of Receipt of Application Form in the Institute of Management Studies, K.U. Kurukshetra is 17.06.2011 (5:00 p.m.)

• Date of Entrance Test for Kurukshetra University admission 2011 for MBA 5 year program is 27.06.2011 at 2.00 p.m.

• Test Centre for Kurukshetra University admission 2011 for MBA 5 year program is Kurukshetra University

• Interview schedule: 11.07.2011 to 13.07.2011

The list of selected candidates as per schedule will also be available on the university website http://www.kukinfo.com

The result of entrance test would be declared within 10 days of the date of the test and same would be available on university website http://www.kukinfo.com

 





About the institute and programme: University school of management (formerly named as Department of Management) of this University, which is the oldest management school in the State of Haryana, was established in the year 1976 with an objective to fulfill the growing need of managerial force in the corporate world. The school has been very successful since then in meeting the corporates requirement of trained work force at both middle and top level managerial positions. In order to cope with the emerging challenges of management education in seamless economies, the university took a strategic decision of starting an integrated 5-year management program in the year 2003 under the umbrella of this school. On receiving an overwhelming response from all corners for this programme, the university decided to make more concentrated efforts for its promotion and therefore a separate Institute was established in the year 2005 in the name of Institute of management studies. The first two batches of the Institute have got placements with renowned corporate house like IDBI, Engineers India Ltd., Standard Chartered Bank, Federal Bank, Tata Tele Services, SBI Life Insurance etc. The BBA and MBA degrees are awarded to the students of this Institute on their successful completion of the courses in first three years and total five years respectively.

The admissions to this programme are made on the basis of entrance test followed by Interview. The students admitted in this programme come from various academic, social and geographical backgrounds. The Institute offers specializations in accordance with the requirements of the industry and interest of the students. The major fields of specialization include Finance, Marketing and HRM.

The duration of the course leading to the degree of MBA-5 year shall be five academic years. Each academic year shall consist of two semesters, i.e., July to December and January to May/June

A student is required to fulfill all the conditions as laid down in the ordinance of Master of Business Administration (five year) Integrated Practice Oriented Programme

The medium of instruction shall be English. The Institute shall admit the candidates to MBA-5 year Integrated Practice Oriented Programme and on completion of the course of study, the successful candidates will be awarded two degrees as under; after successful completion of first three years and passing all the semesters from I to VI, a graduate degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

After successful completion of five years and passing all the semesters from I to X, a degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA). If a student fails to attend his/her classes continuously for seven days from the date of commencement of the classes (date of attendance), his/her admission shall be cancelled. An official E-mail ID will be allotted and communicated to every regular student by the concerned department/Institute for sending official communication to him/her. Weekly attendance report of all students will be put on the university website. If a student remains absent from the class for 14 days or more in a month his name will be struck off from the rolls and his/her parents will also be informed.

Total intake: 50+1 additional seat for Kashmiri Migrant

The total number of seats in MBA 5-year integrated practice-oriented programme is 50. The admission for these 50 seats will be subject to reservation rules of the university/state govt

Eligibility: The minimum qualifications for admission to the course is; senior secondary certificate (10+2 standard) from a recognized board of education or an equivalent examination having at least 50% marks in aggregate with English as one of the subjects; for SC/ST candidates 10+2 from a recognized senior secondary board of education or an equivalent examination with English as one of the subjects; 5% relaxation in minimum eligibility conditions will be given to blind/ physically and visually handicapped candidates; there shall be no rounding of percentage of marks of the qualifying examination i.e., 50% means exact percentage. Thus, 49.5% or above does not mean 50%

The course is open only to whole time students and not for employed persons including the self-employed.

Distribution and reservation of seats: The seats shall be distributed as under; All India category including Haryana (07 seats) 15%; Bonafide residents of Haryana (43 seats) 85%

Last date for receipt of complete application for MBA (5-year programme) in the office of Director, Institute of Management Studies is 17.06.2011

Applications not addressed to the Director, Institute of Management Studies, K.U. Kurukshetra and received after the last date and time prescribed in the schedule even sent through registered/ speed/ordinary post etc will not be entertained and grossly rejected. The application must be addressed clearly in the name of the Director, Institute of Management Studies, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra-136119

In case the form is downloaded from the Internet, the bank draft of Rs 600/- (Rs 150/- for SC/BC candidates of Haryana) in favour of Registrar, Kurukshetra University (not in the name of Director, IMS), must be attached with the form, failing which the application will be rejected and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard

Scheme of entrance test: There would be four papers in the entrance test consisting of the following; Paper-I, Academic Aptitude Test consisting of Comprehension, Vocabulary, Usage and Grammar etc (20 marks); Paper-II, Numerical and Quantitative Ability Test including explanation of Tables, Graphs etc (20 marks); Paper-III, General Knowledge (20 marks); Paper-IV, Reasoning (20 marks)

The duration of the entrance test will be two hours

The standard of the test shall be 10+2 level. The candidates should report at the test centre half an hour before the commencement of the test. Candidates shall have no right to claim admission to MBA-5 year (integrated practice oriented programme) merely by appearing in the entrance test

Admission procedure and preparation of merit list: The merit list will be prepared on the basis of combined marks secured in the qualifying examination, entrance test and Interview in the following manner; marks of entrance test 50%; marks of qualifying examination (10+2) 40%; marks of Interview 10

Payment of fee: The selected candidates will be required to deposit fee and dues on the spot as per schedule Rs 40,000/- per annum plus other university charges of Rs 6,000/- (approximately) per annum, excluding hostel charges
