Invites applications for Admission to the following programme commencing from June 2008

Post Graduate Programme In Computer Aided Management (PGDCM) Fifteenth Session, 2008-2010

 

Objective: To empower budding managers with the ability to play a meaningful role in the information economy. This course is intended for managers who dare the challenge to absorb the rapid changes in Information Technology (IT) and leverage them within their functional areas of operation. The proliferation of IT in every sphere of life inspired IIMC to introduce this unique programme (globally Known as Techno MBA) as early as in 1994. Since its inception, PGDCM programme has been highly appreciated by the industry, which is reflected by its tremendous success in placement both in terms of type of job offers, domestic and international, in different sectors of business, and the compensation package they could command. The programme has been constantly update keeping in tune with the changes in the technologies. Students in this programme are given input in general management areas such as finance marketing strategy economics organizational behavior, human resource management, business environment and operations management. Significant inputs in IT/IS (Information System) areas and in applications of IT in different functional areas are provided along with fundamental concepts in quantitative methods. This develops the capability among students to apply IT in Business and industry as well as in the social sector to achieve strategic goals. This also prepares students to act as consultants in both general management consulting firms and the IT services industry. It can also help the interested student develop or entrepreneur in their initial stage of growth (e.g., they can be thought leaders in knowledge process outsourcing businesses, telecommunication businesses). These would-be managers will be an important driving force behind the world-wide transition towards the emerging knowledge economy.

 





Eligibility: The eligibility criteria is the same as that for PGDM programme. The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA {45% in case of the Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Persons with Disability (PWD) category} of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament of declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry under section 3 of UGC Act, 19 5 6, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. Candidates in the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification and those who have completed degree requirement and are awaiting results scan also apply provided they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2008 from the principal/ Registrar of their college/institute )issued on or before June 30, 2008) stating that they have complete ed all the requirements (the results may, however, be awaited ) for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. Selection: Selection will be based on (i) performance in CAT 2007; (ii0 performance in Aptitude Test in Mathematics (ATM) (iii) performance in Group discussion and Personal interview (iv) relevant work experience; and (v) past scholastic academic achievements; candidates having IS/IT background in education and /or work experience will be preferred. The number of seats per Batch is 60.

 

How to Apply: A candidate is required to send a crossed a crossed demand draft for Rs.600/- (non refundable) in favour of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta payable in Kolkata by November 09,2007 along Number (iii) Email address (iv) Complete Address and (v) Telephone Number. Alternatively, the candidates can also download the Application Form from our website (www.iimcal.ac.in) and send the same duly filled-in along with the demand draft of Rs. 600/- as stated above. For further details, kindly refer to CAT 2007 Bulletin. PGDCM applicants to be short listed for Group Discussion and personal Interview based on CAT performance will be required to appear for the Aptitude Test in Mathematics (ATM). Sample questions of ATM will be sent to the short listed candidates in due course. The CAT Admit Card must be preserved for ATM to be held just prior to Personal Interview. The completed PGDCM Application Form must reach the Admission Office of IIM Calcutta latest by November 09,2007.
