

Post Graduate diploma in management - Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE 2010-12)
PGDM-BE is a two-year, full time, residential programme offered through six trimesters. Curriculum offers a strong mix of quantitative, analytical and strategic skills that encompasses the fundamental core to progressive theories and concepts in business and management practices and prepares the students for all aspects of life beyond the campus. It aims at promoting an inquisitive mind, which proactively seeks the right knowledge, acquires the appropriate skills and promotes the right attitude to develop capabilities needed to manage enterprises in the twenty-first century. Because business ventures demand a strong foundation in key functions the programme is offered through series of courses under foundation, perspective, management and application module in six academic areas distributed throughout the programme duration i.e. Entrepreneurship, organization management, business policy and strategy, marketing, business opportunity and project formulation and economics and finance
Programme objectives: The objectives of this accelerated, rigorous and application-oriented program are to develop skills in successfully initiating, expanding and diversifying a business enterprise in new, up-coming areas, including agriculture and service sectors. Develop family business successors as enterprising and knowledgeable owners of the business of their forefathers. Create cadres of educators and researchers in the field of entrepreneurship development
Fee structure: The course fees for the two-year, full-time, residential programme would be payable in five installments. This includes cost of tuition, reading material, library and computer facilities, study visits and lodging and boarding, alumni association membership fee, students' activities fees, etc.
Admission eligibility: Students must hold a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks (45% in case of the students belonging to SC/ST/PWD category. Students appearing for the final degree examination, at the time of application, can also apply. Students with relevant work experience will be preferred.
Students opting for the admission in the EDI's PGP have to obtain CAT, MAT or XAT bulletin available on sale with Axis Bank or any IIM, AIMA study centres or Bank of Baroda branches and XLRI, Jamshedpur, respectively. For more details, refer EDI website.
Students, opting for EDI-PGP through CAT, MAT or XAT have to apply to EDI also by acquiring a prospectus-cum-application form. Students may obtain this by paying Rs. 1000/- in cash or by sending a demand draft, drawn in favour of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, payable at Ahmedabad, from EDI Head/Branch or Project Offices.
Students will be short listed for the personal interview on the basis of CAT, MAT and XAT scores. However, such candidates have to appear for EDI's Entrepreneurial Aptitude Test (EAT). Besides CAT, MAT and XAT, the Institute reserves the right to select candidates on the basis of its own written test (EDI Entrance Exam (EEE)) and personal interview
EDI entrance examination for admission to PGDM-BE: The EDI entrance examination (EEE) has the following components. The paper has sectional time limits and there is no negative marking. Most questions are of multiple choice types.
Written test: The written test focuses on evaluating aspirants on a paper that is divided into five sections needs to be completed in 120 minutes.
English – 25 minutes,Arithmetic – 30 minutes, Logic and Reasoning – 20 minutes, General awareness – 20 minutes, Entrepreneurial orientation – 25 minutes, Total – 120 minutes

Those who have valid score of MAT at the time of personal interviews (i.e. 01-05th Mar 2010) need not undergo the test again and based on performance in the MAT can apply directly to the Institute with attested photo copy of valid MAT score card before 19th Feb 2010. Such candidate will be called for Entrepreneurial Aptitude Test (EAT) and Personal Interview during 01-05th Mar 2010, if short listed.
Dates for the EEE and PI: Because of the new dates decided for the written test of CAT by IIMs and subsequent delay in announcement of the results, the written test (EEE) will be conducted along with the Entrepreneurial Aptitude Test (EAT) and the Personal Interview between 1 to 5 March 2010 at the following centers

Placement: On completion of the second year, the Institute will provide limited support in placement for those who wish to work in an enterprise before launching their own enterprise and will also facilitate interaction with bankers/financial institutions so as to help students in starting their venture.
Loans from financial institutions: Financial institutions/banks provide convenient educational loans for meritorious/deserving students to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of their interest. Students pursuing their studies had availed educational loans from Indian bank, bank of baroda, state bank of India and others. Students desirous to avail this facility must meet the managers of the respective banks located in their hometowns and understand the procedural formalities.
Career path: Entrepreneurship is more than the process of starting a business. An entrepreneurial mindset is crucial for all organizations - small or large, new or old, for-profit or not-for-profit. Identifying, valuing and capturing business opportunity through individual initiative in the context of uncertainty and tight resources is crucial for the success of any organization. This opened up substantial career avenues for PGDM-BE graduates.
