ADMISSION TO M.B.A. PROGRAMME 2009-10
Amrita School of Business of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University invites applications for Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme for the year 2009
1. ELIGIBILITY FOR AMRITA MBA ADMISSION
The minimum qualification to apply for admission to the MBA Programme is a Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3 years of education) in any discipline which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or any degree equivalent to the Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Secondary/ Higher Secondary/Pre-degree examinations (or equivalent) conducted by a Board/ University.
Those appearing for the final year of the Bachelor’s degree examinations may also apply subject to completing their examinations or viva-voce, if any, before 30th June 2009. Such candidates will however have to fulfil the above eligibility requirements in respect of minimum academic qualifications for admission and furnish evidence to that effect latest by 31st December 2009. At the time of interview and/or admissions, they are advised to produce a letter from their college Principal/Head of Institution stating the examination dates.
Candidates with appropriate industry experience will have an added advantage for admissions. Their work experience will be given due weightage (both in terms of where you have worked and duration of workex).
2. ADMISSION TEST
All candidates seeking admission to Amrita’s MBA Programme should appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in November 2008. For CAT bulletins and CAT application forms, please stay tuned to IIM advertisements. NRIs and Foreign Nationals are required to take the GMAT test. No other scores are applicable for seeking admissions at Amrita School of Business.
3. SELECTION
The closing date for filed up application forms is 15th January 2009. By early February 2009, candidates who are short-listed based on their CAT score will be called for a Personal Interview. Interviews will be held at Coimbatore (Campus), Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. The interview dates would be between the 1st of March 2009 and 11th of March 2009. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated of their dates and venue based on the choice of interview location that they give in the application form. The last lap of interviews will be held in Coimbatore (9th to 11th March 2009). After the Personal Interview, candidates will be intimated of their final selection by 13th of March 2009. The selected students should be ready to pay the first instalment of fees within fifteen days from the date of intimation of their final selection. As far as the GMAT route is concerned, a maximum of six NRI and/or foreign candidates may be admitted through GMAT. A minimum GMAT score of 550 is necessary for consideration for interview.
4. BATCH SIZE
The number of seats available for the fully residential 2-year MBA Programme starting on June 2009 is 120.
5. ORIENTATION PROGRAM
In mid-June 2009, the School organizes a two-week orientation programme for the incoming new batch. This programme of preparatory studies is necessary before students can begin their regular work. Participation is compulsory for all students. The exact dates are intimated to the selected student community at the appropriate time.
6. REFUND POLICY
1. Fees paid are refundable (as per latest UGC norms). If the student pulls out of the program before its commencement (i.e. before orientation), then whatever amount has been paid will be fully refunded [Rs. 1000/- will be deducted for administrative expenses]. If the student chooses to leave after the program starts, then there will be a prorated refund with the prorating rounded to months.
2. Caution deposits will be refunded after the settlement of liabilities, if any.
3. Hostel fees and medical expenses, etc. will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.

8. ADMISSIONS E-HELP DESK
