Eligibility

M.Phil: LL.M degree from a recognized University securing B+ grade or an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent

LL.D/ Ph.D: LL.M degree from a recognized University securing B+ grade or an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent and M.Phil in Law from a recognised University

Filled in application form along with a demand draft of Rs 1,000/- (Rs one thousand only) drawn in favour of Registrar, NLSIU and payable at Bangalore, along with the research proposal (as detailed below) and other necessary enclosures to the Registrar, NLSIU, Nagarbhavi, PB No-720l, Bangalore-560072 on or before 31st March, 2012

The candidates should submit an outline of the scheme of research intended for the thesis (Research Proposal) about 10 to 12 pages

A certificate from the Institution concerned testifying the length of service, wherever required; an attested photo copy of the eligibility qualification certificates and mark sheets; one set of published papers, monographs, articles and books, if any

Read the Regulations relating to research degree programmes and satisfy yourself that you are eligible to seek admission to the course and you are willing to undergo the rigorous education and training offered at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU)

Admission test: There shall be a written test which shall consist of two papers; paper-I (Research Methodology); paper II (Research Proposal-specific paper)

Each paper shall carry a maximum of 100 marks and the candidate securing not less than 50% marks in each paper will qualify for making an oral presentation before the expert panel

The candidate successful in written test shall be required to make an oral presentation before a panel of experts on the dates specified by the University

NLSIU admission test for the courses will be held on 05th May, 2012






Candidates successful after oral presentation and admitted to the respective Research Degree program shall successfully complete the mandatory course work (staying on campus for one trimester) before commencement of the research program

For pursuing any of the above Research Programme after the successful completion of the course work, the candidate need not have to stay in the campus

The selected candidates will be assigned to a supervisor at NLSIU

They will have to be in touch with their respective supervisors for furthering their research programme

Fee structure

M.Phil Rs 15,000/- Registration fee; Rs 10,000/- examination fee (at the time of submission of thesis); Rs 7,500/- continuation fee upto 2 years; Rs 7,500/- re-submission of thesis; Rs 7,500/- Re-registration fee

Ph.D/LL.D Rs 20,000/- registration fee; Rs 15,000/- examination fee (at the time of submission of thesis); Rs 7,500/- continuation fee upto 2 years; Rs 10,000/- re-submission of thesis; Rs 15,000/- re-registration fee

IMPORTANT DATES

Date of issue of notification for admission to research degree programmes: 11th January, 2012

Last date for receipt of application with the research proposals: 31st March, 2012

Date of admission test: 05th May, 2012

Presentation of research proposal before the panel of experts by candidates successful in admission test: 24th-26th May, 2012

Last date for payment of registration fee: 23rd June, 2012

Date of commencement of the course work by candidates admitted to the research programs: 01st July, 2012

Duration of the course work: 01st July, 2012 to 30th September, 2012
