Applications are invited from Indian Citizens for admission to the undergraduate courses in the Engineering/Technological/Dairy and Pharmacy and Medical/Dental/Veterinary and Ayurvedacharya/Homoeopathy/Physiotherapy/Unani and Nurshing (H) in University/ Colleges in West Bengal and B. Arch Course in Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur and Jadavpur University during the academic session 2007 – 2008, on the basis of a JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, to be conducted by the “WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD”. B.E/B.TECH. : The applicant must have passed/due to appear in 2007 at the H.S., (10+2) Examination or equivalent conducted by and Govt. recognised Board/Council with 45% marks for General candidates (40% marks for SC/St) in the subjects Physics, Chemsitry and Mathematics taken together and with 30% marks in English.
M.B.B.S./B.D.S.: The applicant must have passed/due to appear in 2007 at the H.S. Exam (10+2) or equivalent conducted by any Govt. recognised Board/Council, with English, Vernacular (or any other fifth subject), Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences. He/She also has to pass the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences and English individually, having obtained a minimum of 50 percent marks (40 percent for candidates belonging to SC/St) in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together at the qualifying exam.
PHARMACY.: The applicant must have passed/due to appear in 2007 at H.S. (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from a recognized University /Board with 45% marks for General candidates(40% marks for SC/St) either with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or with Physics, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences taken together and with atleast 30% marks in English.
AYURVEDACHARYA/PHYSIOTHERAPY/HOMOEOPATHY/UNANI: The applicant must have passed/due to appear in 2007 at the H.S. (10+2) Examination or equivalent, conducted by any recognised Board/Council with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences and Vernacular or any other 5 th subjects.
NURSING (H) : The applicant (only female candidates) must have passed/due to appear in 2007 at the H.S. (10+2) or equivalent Examination recognized by West Bengal University of Health Sciences with 50% marks for General candidates (40% marks for SC/ST) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences and English taken together and have to pass the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences and English individually.
Date of Birth for Medical/Dental Ayurvedacharya/Physioteheraphy/Homoeopathy/Unani and Nursing (H) : The candidate (both male and female) shall complete the age of 17 (seventeen) years on or before 31 st December, 2007.
Residential Requirements for Medical/Dental /Ayurvedacharya/Physiotherapy /Homoeopathy/Unani and Nursing(H) : Candidates shall be citizens of India and either have been residing in the State of West Bengal uninterruptedly/continuously of not less than 10 years (in case of Nursing, not less than 5 years) immediately prior to the date of making application for admission, or whose parents are permanent residents of W.B. having their permanent home address in the State of W.B. In case of Nursing (H), candidates from any
State of India may be considered of admission to non – Government Institutions.
Reservation : Reservation for SC/ST/PC candidates are as per State Govt. Rules.
Venue of Examination : New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, Agartala, Kolkata and different district towns of West Bengal.
Cost of Application Materials :Rs. 500/- for ‘E’ and ‘M’ Type form and Rs. 600/- for ‘C’ Type form including Information Brochure and printed Envelope. The candidates who are intending to appear for B. Arch. Exam. (GDAT) will have to pay an additional amount of Rs. 200/- by D.D. in favour of “West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board” payable at Howrah/Kolkata along with duly filled in application form provided as an Addl. Sheet with Information Brochure for B.Arch. Exam. (GDAT – 2007) at the time of submission of a Application Form (‘E’ or ‘C’ type form only). The candidates seeking admission in Pharmacy course have to appear in Physics plus Chemistry and Mathematics or Biological Sciences or both and they will have to apply using ‘C’ type form.
Sale of Application form : Application Forms will be available form 29.11.2006 to 30.12.2006 at the following Branches of UNITED BANK OF INDIA at Kolkata and Howrah – Old Court House St., College St., Sealdah, Shyambazar, Jadavpur, Behala, Mayukh Bhawan – Salt Lake, B.E. College Extn. Counter and at Asansol, Durgapur City Centre, Bardhaman, Katwa (Station Rd.), Serampore, Arambag, Kalyami, Krishnagore, Barasat, Diamond Harbour, Kolghat, Haldia, Kharagar, Suri, Bankura, Purulia, Berhampur, Rajganj, Balurghat, Malda Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, New Delhi (90/8 Connaught Circus), Mumbai (25 Sri Pheroze Shah Mehta Rd, Fort), Chennai (117, Armenian St.) Raipur (12/101 – 103 Malviya Rd.), Bhubaneswar (Market Building), Patna (32 Station Rd.), Ranchi (94 Main Rd.), Guwahati (Chariati Police Point), Silchar (Central Rd.) and Agartala (Hari Ganga Basak Rd.) on all banking hours on payment of requisite fee. The application form and the information brochure may also be obtained by post from the Board Office on application addressed to Member Secretary with an addional fee of Rs. 50/-. The total amount has to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “West Bengal. Joint Entrance examinations Board” payable at Howrah/Kolkata.
How to Apply : The duly filled in application form must be sent in the printed envelope by SPEED POST so as to reach the office of the Board by 05.01.2007. Submission of Application Form by hand or courier service will not be accepted. There is no provision for selling or receiving of application form with late fee from the Board office.
Results will be published within JUNE, 2007 and Rank Cards will be sent to ht eligible merit listed candidates only by registered/speed post. It is to be noted that the Board is in no way responsible for admission to the Colleges. Admission is subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions of the Central Selection Committee to whom the Merit List of candidates is sent by the Board. It does not have nay provision for post Publication scrutiny, inspection/review and hence will not entertain nay such request. Compliance with requirements of the Joint Entrance Examination or event he inclusion in the Merit List does not guarantee admission to any Institution.
