Eligibility

B.E./B.Tech program (first year on the basis of AIEEE-2011): Admissions to B.E./B.Tech programs shall be made on the basis of merit in All India Engineering entrance examination (AIEEE-2011) to be conducted by CBSE, New Delhi on 01st May, 2011. Only those candidates shall be eligible, who score at least 20% (15% for SC/ST) aggregate marks in AIEEE-2011

In addition, minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science at 10+2 or equivalent examination are also required to be eligible for admission

50% of the seats of B.E./B.Tech program are reserved for the candidates who have passed/(or appearing) in their +2 examination from institutions located in Punjab. Remaining seats are for those who have passed +2 examination from institutions located outside Punjab

For all other programs: The admission shall be made on the merit of the entrance test. The eligibility, number of seats and admission procedure for LEET-TU/MBA/MCA/M.Sc/ M.E./ M.Tech/ M.Phil/Ph.D programs is available on our website

Important dates

Availability of prospectus: 13th April, 2011

Last date for receipt of completed application forms for all programs: 23rd May, 2011

Online entrance test for all programs except B.E./B.Tech (first year) and GATE qualified (M.E./M.Tech): 15th June, 2011 to 20th June, 2011

Interview for M.E./M.Tech (GATE qualified) candidates in respective departments/school: 08th June, 2011

Interview for Ph.D: 12th July, 2011

How to apply: The candidate can purchase the application form from the University counter or by post or from select branches of Axis bank (for details of branch, visit www.thapar.edu) or by filling the application form on our website

B.E./B.Tech candidates seeking admission in this university on the basis of AIEEE-2011 have to submit a separate application to this University on prescribed application form

Details of application fee and examination fee

Application form obtained from university counter by paying cash Rs 1500/-

Application form obtained by post by sending a demand draft Rs 1550/-

Entrance test fee for each program/discipline Rs 1000/-

Candidates filling the application form on www.thapar.edu must fill the complete details and then take the print out of the form. Attach the required amount of demand draft (Rs 1500/- for B.E./B.Tech and Rs 2500/- per application for any other program) and send it to in-charge admission cell

Candidates applying for more than one M.Sc/M.E./M.Tech/M.Phil program, whether in same or different departments, are required to fill separate form for each program along with requisite exam fee

For depositing money through demand draft, the demand draft of requisite amount should be made in favour of the Thapar University, Patiala and payable at Patiala
