The Institute of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology (IBB) was established in 2002 under the University with Potential for Excellence program funded by the UGC. The institute has a mandate with three major activities in the areas of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology; Research and Development of Human Resources Development of Interactive Programmes and Infrastructure
Courses Details
Integrated M.Sc/M.Tech Biotechnology programme (5 years)
M.Tech Biotechnology programme (6 year additional 1 year after M.Sc Biotechnology)
Application fee: Rs 1000/- for open category and outside the state of Maharashtra candidates; Rs 600/- for reserved category candidates (only those with domicile in Maharashtra state)
Course fee: M.Sc Biotechnology Rs 56,600/- per year, M.Tech Biotechnology Rs 81,600/- per year
Eligibility: 10+2 level science examination of any recognized board in India, minimum percentage required for open 60%, reserved 55%
Number of seats available: 30+ foreign/NRI/PIO + Jammu and Kashmir migrants
Required documents: Attested true copies of the following documents (one copy of each); statement of marks of the qualifying examination (in case of candidates whose results are awaited, statement of marks would have to be submitted after the declaration of results and their admission to the course is subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility criterion); Leaving certificate of previously attended educational institute; birth certificate/school leaving certificate; reserved category certificate from the competent authority (applicable to candidates belonging to reserved category with domicile in Maharashtra only) and cast validity certificate as a supporting document; non-creamy layer certificate if candidate belongs to OBC, NTC or NTD category; for the candidates having physical disability (attested true copy of minimum 40% physical disability certificate from competent authority
Reservations: SC 13%, ST 7%, DT(A) 3%, NT(B) 2.5%, NT(C) 3.5%, NT(D) 2%, OBC 19%
Admission rules: Merit list/admission rules selection is strictly based on merit in the entrance examination. Any seat vacant in the reserved quota due to no availability of the eligible candidate will not be filled by open category candidates
Only reserved category candidates certified as having domicile in the state of Maharashtra are eligible for the 50% reserved seats. Of the remaining 50% seats, 70% seats will be filled by open category candidates from Maharashtra and 30% seats will be filled on an All India basis in open category. SC/ST/DT/NT and OBC applicants with domicile from the states other than Maharashtra will be considered for admission in the open category
How to apply: Please go through all the details of the subject of your interest by selecting the course for which you wish to give an entrance examination; first draw the demand drafts (the demand draft should be drawn in the name of Registrar, University of Pune’, payable at Pune and drawn on any nationalized bank) of amount specified in the course details. And please carry all the detail Information of your DD with you when you start filling the Entrance form
