Admission to M.Sc (Tech); M.Sc Programmes for the academic year 2011-2012

M.Sc Applied (Mathematics) (2 years/4 semesters) 24 seats; M.Sc (Mathematics and Scientific Computing) (2 years/4 semesters) 24 seats; M.Sc (Tech) Engineering Physics (industry oriented) with streams of study in Photonics/Electronics/Instrumentation (3 years/6 semesters) 48 seats; M.Sc (Industrial Chemistry) Dyes, Drugs, Pharmaceutical and Pesticides (2 years/4 semesters) 24 seats; M.Sc Industrial Chemistry (Modern Methods of Chemical Analysis) (2 years/4 semesters) 24 seats

Admissions are made on All India basis for all the programmes, with reservations as per govt of India norms

The selection criterion for admission into all the M.Sc programmes is based on Institute admission test, NITWET-2011

NITWET-2010 (National Institute of Technology Warangal entrance test) is a national level entrance test being conducted for admission into various M.Sc programmes at NIT Warangal. The admission into M.Sc programmes at NIT Warangal will be based on the rank obtained in NITWET-2011 only

Candidates seeking admission into M.Sc should have passed B.Sc or equivalent degree in the subject concerned from a recognized university/institution with first class and not less than 60% aggregate marks (of all the years) or equivalent CGPA of 6.5/10

In case of SC/ST/PC candidates 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0/10 is the eligibility requirement

Eligibility

M.Sc (Applied Mathematics)/M.Sc (Mathematics and Scientific Computing): B.Sc/BA degree with Mathematics, being the main subject or as one of the three optional subjects, should have obtained Ist class with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA 6.5/10 in all the optional subjects put together

SC/ST/PC candidates with 55% marks or with 6.0/10 CGPA are also eligible to apply for both the programmes

M.Sc (Tech) Engineering Physics: B.Sc degree with Ist class and at least 60% marks in aggregate in all the optional subjects put together or equivalent CGPA 6.5/10 and should have studied Physics and Maths as optionals

SC/ST/PC candidates with 55% marks or with 6.0/10 CGPA are also eligible to apply for the programme

M.Sc Industrial Chemistry: B.Sc degree with Chemistry, being the main subject or one of the three optional subjects, should have obtained Ist class with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA 6.5/10 in all the optional subjects

SC/ST/PC candidates with 55% marks or with 6.0/10 CGPA are also eligible to apply for both the programmes

Separate applications are to be submitted for admission to different departments. However, only one application is sufficient for different specializations offered by a dept

Application should be sent along with photo copies of the necessary certificates with a demand draft for Rs 500/- (Rs 250/- for SC/ST candidates) towards application fee. Demand draft must be drawn in favour of Director, NIT Warangal, payable at SBH, NIT Warangal branch (code 20149) or any other nationalized bank payable at Warangal

Name and address of the candidate should be written on the reverse of the demand draft

Pattern of NITWET: The question paper consists of objective type (multiple choices) and total questions will be 80 only. There will be negative marks for incorrect answers. The duration of the test is one and a half hours. Medium of NITWET is English only

Schedule of NITWET

M.Sc Chemistry: 27th May, 2011, 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

M.Sc Physics: 28th May, 2011, 2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.

M.Sc Maths: 29th May, 2011, 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.

Candidates awaiting the results of the final semester/year may also apply. But they should submit the final marks list before the date given by the Institute in case they are selected

Applications submitted in any other proforma other than the prescribed proforma kept in the Institute website or those received after the due date or those, which are incomplete in any respect, will not be considered

Candidates should send their applications by speed post/registered post super scribing application for NITWET 2011 on the envelope to admissions officer, National Institute of Technology, Warangal-506021, Andhra Pradesh

Last date for submission/receiving filled in applications is: 02nd May, 2011

Registration of the eligible candidate will be displayed on the website after 20th May, 2011

No paper Hall Ticket will be sent by post to the candidate. However, the candidate has to bring the photo copy of the summary sheet (Hall Ticket) provided with the application form at the time of examination. Candidate should note the registration number allotted to them. Without the summary sheet and the registration number candidates are not permitted to write NITWET

In the NITWET, if two or more candidates obtain the same marks, the aggregate percentage of marks obtained at the qualifying degree examination, will be the criterion for preference. In case of further tie, elder person by age will be given preference

Reservations for OBC/SC/ST/PC will be as per the rules of govt of India

Applicant should be a citizen of India

Admission of foreign nationals, if any, shall be governed by the rules stipulated by the govt of India from time to time

Candidates who are provisionally selected for admission will be examined by the Institute Medical Officer and those who fail to satisfy the physical fitness standard prescribed by the Institute will not be admitted

Candidates name will be provisionally included in the rolls only when the selected candidate reports at the Institute for admission, submits all the required certificates, in original, found to be Medically fit and pay all the fees and deposits prescribed

Application forms duly filled in must be accompanied by the following documents; photocopies of marks memoranda/grade sheets of all the examinations leading to the qualifying degree; photocopy of integrated community certificate in the prescribed format (proforma), if the admission is sought against the reserved seat; photocopy of the degree/provisional pass certificate of the qualifying examination

In case, final result is awaited, provisional pass certificate should be submitted at the time of counseling or before the date given by the Institute, failing which the admission may be cancelled

Photocopy of the conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended

Applications without these documents shall be deemed to be incomplete and shall be rejected
