Eligibility criteria for GDPD: Admission is open to students who have passed or who will appear in 2008 for qualifying examinations under Higher Secondary (10+2) or Equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ICSE, etc. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on 1.6.2008. This 4- year programme, including a Foundation year, is offered in the following three Faculty streams (possible areas of design specialization though projects are given in brackets):

ADMISSION IFORMATION:
Forms and information, can be obtained form Academic office, NID, Ahmedabad directly by sending a Demand Draft on any scheduled Bank payable at Ahmedabad for Rs. 1050/- (Rs 500/- relevant document from competent authority) favoring National with Rs. 25/- stamps affixed. Mark your envelope ‘Admissions required amount of DD drawn in favour of National Institute of Design, Payable at Ahmedabad will also be accepted.
Prescribed percentage of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to various reserved categories as per the Government of India norms in force at the time of admission.
Design Aptitude Tests (DAT) for eligible candidates for Graduate Diploma Programmes will be held at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata & Mumbai.
Application forms and prospectus can also be obtained form following select branches of Bank of India as per the details given below on payment of Rs. 1050/- towards the cost of the form plus (Forms at concessional rates to reserved categories are available only form NID, Ahmedabad directly):
