ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION TO PROFESSIONAL DEGREE COURSES (MEDICAL / ENGINEERING / ARCHITECTURE) 2007
The Entrance Examination for admission to Professional Degree Courses for the Academic year 2007-2008 will be conducted from April 23 rd to 27 th, 2007 as per the schedule detailed below at selected centers.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS FOR ADMISSION
MEDICAL/AGRICULTURE/VETERINARY/ENGINEERING/ARCHITECTURE
DEGREE COURSES, 2007
NOTIFICATION
1. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examinations for admission to the following Professional Degree
courses in the State for 2007-08.
(a) Medical (i) MBBS (ii) BDS (iii) BPharm (iv) BSc (Nursing) (v) BSc (MLT) (vi) BAMS
(vii) BHMS (viii) BSMS (Siddha) (ix) BSc–Nursing (Ayurveda) and (x) BPharm (Ayurveda) .
(b) Agriculture (i) BSc (Agriculture) (ii) BFSc (Fisheries) (iii) BSc (Forestry)
(c) Veterinary BVSc & AH
(d) Engineering B.Tech [including BTech (Agricultural Engg. / BTech (Dairy Sc. & Tech) courses under the Kerala Agr iculture University]
(e) Architecture B.Arch
Note:-
i) Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions as laid down in the Prospectus and who seek admission to the
Government seats in (i) Medical, Agriculture, Veterinary and Engineering Courses that are to be filled on the
basis of the rank in the Entrance Examinations (ii) Architecture course that are to filled on the basis of rank
list prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture
(NATA), conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture and the grade/marks in the
qualifying examination , should apply in the prescribed Application Form. For Medical/Agriculture, Veterinary
and Engineering (except Architecture) the candidates should appear for the Entrance Examinations
concerned. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not conduct Entrance Examination for B.Arch
Course. However they should compulsorily appear for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and
send their NATA score and mark lists of the qualifying examination before the stipulated time, that will be
notified later. Candidates who wish to be considered for B.Arch course should send the application form
before the stipulated time to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations .
ii) Allotments to Self- financing Colleges from the State Rank lists for all courses will be subject to the decision
of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in WP(C)s on the issues relating to Self-financing colleges pending
before it and orders of Central and State Governments.
2. Eligibility for Admission:
(i) Nativity:
(a) Applicant should be an Indian citizen. PIO Card Holders who have studied/are studying in Kerala from
Class VIII to XII will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission.
(b) Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply. Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as
‘Keralites’. Others will be categorized as ‘Non- Keralites’.
(c) A candidate will be considered as a ’Keralite’, for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if (i)
he/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR (ii) he/she has been a resident of Kerala for a
period of 5 years within a period o f 12 years OR (iii) he/she has undergone his/her school studies from
Standard VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala.
Non-Keralites are classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non-Keralite Category-II’ .
‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ candidates are those who have undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who
are the sons/daughters of Employees of the Government of India, or, employees who are serving in
connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala, subject to the condition that, all categories of the
employees mentioned above should have served in Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years, or, have served in
connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years. Such candidates will
be eligible for admission to the Government seats under ‘State Merit’ only, for all the courses , which are filled
on the basis of the rank in the Entrance Examination(s) or the rank list prepared by giving equal weightage to
the marks in NATA and qualifying examination, as applicable.
Candidates who do not belong to the ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ will be treated as ‘Non-Keralite
Category-II”. They are eligible for admission ONLY to the ‘State Merit’ seats in the Self-financing Engineering
Colleges in the State , subject to the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India .
Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved seats.
(ii) Academic qualification:
(a) Medical/Agriculture/Veterinary/BSc–Nursing(Ayurveda) and B.Pharm (Ayurveda) Courses:
Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary examination or examination recognized as
equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put
together. Those who wish to take admission to MBBS/BDS courses should acquire 50% marks in the
Medical Entrance Examination (As per the guidelines issued by Medical Council of India).
Candidates seeking admission to BVSc. & AH course under the Kerala Agricultural University, in addition to
the qualification prescribed under (a) above, should have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks
in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together (as per the regulation of Veterinary Council of
India) .
(b)BPharm course: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations
recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Mathematics/ Bio-technology/Computer
Science separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics/Biotechnology/
Computer Science put together are eligible. Such candidates will not be eligible for admission to B.Pharm (Ayurveda) course.
Candidates who have passed D.Pharm course with 50% mark in the final Diploma examination in Pharmacy
are also eligible for admission to B.Pharm course, subject to the condition that they should have passed
Higher Secondary/Pre-Degree or equivalent examination, with Physics , Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics
as optional. Such candidates will be eligible only for B .Pharm course and will not be admitted to other
Medical/Agriculture/Veterinary Courses.
(c) Eligibility of B .Sc. Degree holders: Those who apply based on their BSc. Degree, for admission to MBBS,
BDS , BAMS, BSMS, B.Sc (Nursing), B Sc (MLT) and B. Pharm courses, should have obtained their B.Sc.
Degree with one of the subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bio-Chemistry as Main, and any one
or two of these subjects as subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main and Subsidiaries taken together, provided
they have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as
optional subjects.
(d) Engineering Courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or
examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50% marks
in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry /Biotechnology /Computer Science/Biology put together are eligible
for admission. Three year Diploma holders in Engineering having 50% marks in the final Diploma
examination are also eligible for admission. However, these Diploma holders are not eligible for admission
to the courses under the Kerala Agricultural University.
Architecture Course: Candidates who have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary School Certificate
Examination or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Mathematics as a subject of
examination, with 50% marks in aggregate are eligible. In addition to this only those candidates who score
40% marks in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) will be eligible for admission.
(e) Relaxation in marks in the Qualifying Examination: For all courses, a relaxation of 5% marks in the
qualifying examination will be allowed to those candidates who belong to the communities listed under the
Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and OEC category, whose annual family income is up
to Rs. 2.5 lakhs (Rupees Two Lakhs and Fifty Thousand only). SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the
qualifying examination. But candidates belonging to SEBC categories seeking admission to MBBS/BDS
courses, need 4 5% marks in Biology and 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, in the
qualifying examination and 40% marks in Medical Entrance Examination . Candidates belonging to SC/ST
categories need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together in the qualifying examination
and 40% marks in the Entrance Examination for seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Courses. (As per the
Guidelines of Medical Council of India). For B.Arch, the minimum score in NATA is 35% for candidates
belonging to reserved category.
(b) Candidates who have appeared/are appearing for Qualifying Examinations: Candidates who have not
passed the qualifying examination but have appeared/ are appearing for the Higher Secondary or equivalent
examination or the three -year Engineering Diploma examination this academic year, will also be permitted to
take the Entrance Examination(s) provisionally. But, such candidates become eligible for admission only, if
they pass the qualifying examination and thereby become eligible for admission before the commencement
of the Centralized Allotment Process 2007. But candidates applying based on BSc Degree, referred to under
paragraph 2 (ii) (c) above, should have passed the Degree Examination at the time of submission of
application.
(iii) Age: The candidate should complete 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2007.
3. Schedule for the Entrance Examinations:
The Entrance Examinations will be held in all the District Centres in Kerala, New Delhi and Dubai (UAE), on the
dates mentioned below as per Indian Standard Time.
Engineering Entrance Examination (For Engineering courses except Architecture):
23-04-2007 Monday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 PM Paper-I: Physics & Chemistry.
24-04-2007 Tuesday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 PM Paper-II: Mathematics.
Medical Entrance Examination [For Medical (including B.Pharm), Agriculture and Veterinary Courses]:
25-04-2007 Wednesday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 PM Paper-I: Chemistry & Physics.
26-04-2007 Thursday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 PM Paper-II: Biology.
Note (i): Appearance in the two papers of the concerned Entrance Examination is compulsory for being
considered for inclusion in the Engineering/Medical rank lists (except Architecture) .
Note (ii): Admission to the BPharm course will be based on a separate rank list prepared on the basis of
the performance of candidates in the ‘Chemistry & Physics’ Paper of the Medical Entrance Examination.
Hence, those who wish to be considered for admission to the BPharm course should appear for the
Chemistry & Physics Paper of the Medical Entrance Examination.
4. Application Forms:
(a) ONLY ONE APPLICATION NEED BE SUBMITTED FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS FOR
ADMISSION TO ONE OR MORE OF MEDICAL, AGRICULTURE, VETERINARY, B.PHARM,
ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE COURSES.
(b) SC/ST candidates should apply in pink-coloured application forms and all other candidates should apply in
the General application form. Candidates under ‘Other Eligible Communities (OEC)’ should apply in the
General application form. Candidates who are children of Intercaste Married Couple, of which one is SC/ST,
should apply in the form meant for SC/ST.
(c) Cost of Application: General candidates - Rs. 700/- ; SC/ST candidates - Rs. 350/-
(d) Application Sales Centres: The application form and Prospectus will be sold from 07-02-2007 to
05-03-2007 through selected Canara Bank branches in Kerala and outside the State. The amount towards
cost of application is to be remitted in cash at the sale centre. The list of Canara Bank branches selected
as sales centres is appended separately. Application Forms will not be available by post or sold from the
office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.
(e) Materials supplied along with the Application form: At the time of purchase of the application form,
applicants will also be supplied with an OMR Data Sheet, Prospectus and an envelope bearing the address
of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. Candidates should ensure that the Application number
printed in the Application Form, OMR Data Sheet and on the cover are the same.
(f) Facility to Down Load the Application Form: Candidates not claiming any reservation/belonging to the
Non Kearalite Category–II, can apply in the prescribed format by downloading the application from the
website cee-kerala.org. Such candidates should send the filled -in application along with a Demand Draft
for Rs.700/-, drawn on any Nationalized Bank , in favour of the ‘Commissioner for Entrance Examinations’,
payable at Thiruvananthapuram, so as to reach this office before the last date and time for receipt of
applications.
(g) Candidates opting DUBAI (UAE) as the Centre for Entrance Examination. Candidates, who choose
‘DUBAI’ as their centre for the Entrance Examination, should submit along with their filled in application
form, a Demand Draft for Rs.7000/- (Rs. Seven Thousand only), drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of
the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, and payable at Thiruvananthapuram.
5. Last date and time for receipt of filled in Application Forms: The filled in Application Form along with
the OMR DATA SHEET and other relevant documents to be submitted with the Application form is to be
sent in the printed envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations supplied
along with the application form so as to reach him before 5 p.m. on 07.03 200 7, by Hand Delivery /
Registered Post/ Speed Post.
Note: Completed Applications will be received in the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance
Examinations on holidays also.
6. Belated applications: Belated applications will be rejected. Candidates are therefore advised to apply
well in advance. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay.
7. Candidates will not be allowed to include any information in the application form or to submit any
Certificates/Documents claiming reservation or any other benefits, after the submission of the application,
under any circumstances. Requests in this regard will not be entertained by the Office of the
Commissioner.
8. Certificates that are to be obtained in the body of the Application should be obtained in the body of the
Application form itself. The certificates in the same format which are attached separately with the
application form will not be considered.
9. Incomplete or defective applications will be summarily REJECTED and no correspondence will be
entertained in this regard.
10. The Entrance Examinations and the subsequent allotments will be based on the various provisions laid
down in the Prospectus approved by the Government. An extract of the Prospectus will also be available in
the web site of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations at “cee-kerala.org”. Candidates are
requested to go through the various provisions in the Prospectus before submitting their applications.
