Subjects of Study: BA/BCom/BSc

The course is divided in three categories — Foundation Eng, MIL (Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu). Electives Hindi, Eng, Pol Sc, Hist, Econ, Public Admn, Sociol, commerce.

Application Oriented Feature Writing, Writing for Radio, Translation, Organising Child Care Services, nutrition for the Community, Human Environment, Marketing, Export Procedures and Documentation. BSc Maths, Phy, Chem, Life, Sciences.

Lab Courses for BSc programmes are organised at selected centres for 1-2 weeks on a full-time basis involving 10 hours of lab work/study per day. Attendance in lab courses is compulsory.

The students are required to take 16 credits in Foundation Courses and 16 credits in Elective Courses in the first year. In the second year a student has to take 24 credits of elective courses and 8 credits of Foundation Courses. In the third year a student may take 24/16 credits from elective courses and 8/16 from Application Oriented Courses. A student can pace the studies in such a way that he/she obtains 96 Credits.

Dip in Creative Writing in Eng (DCE)/Hindi (DCH) (5 courses) provides understanding, skill and professional knowledge about the art of writing and develops the creative ability for professionals or freelance writers. The programme includes training in imaginative writing skills in relation to feature articles, writing short stories, scripts for TV/Radio and writing poetry. A student is required to undertake a project in an area of creative writing/special insterest.

Cert in Food & Nutrition (5 courses) include features on kitchen gardening, food preservation, consumer rights and safety.

Cert in Guidance (CIG) (4 courses): This programme enables the participant to: (a) develop understanding of child development and individual differences in the context of educational process;

(b) concepts and processes involved in guiding elementary school children for learning & socio-emotional development; (c) identify children with special needs and problems, and (d) suggest intervention strategies for parents, teachers and other adults to facilitate alround development of children.
