Admission Notification 2011

Two degrees at the same time-simultaneously; one at college; another at school of distance education

25% fee concession; all teachers of educational institutions, defence and police personnel, press and media personnel, ex-servicemen and graduates of Bharathiar University

10% fee concession; in tuition fee for women (who do not avail concession otherwise)

Concession as per G.O.; for differently abled persons

IT/Computer courses (annual pattern): MCA (3 years); M.Sc (2 years) (Computer Science, Information Technology); BCA (3 years); B.Sc (3 years) (Computer Science, Information Technology); PGDCA (1 year)

PG Courses (2 years) (annual pattern): M.Sc (Mathematics, Applied Psychology, Bio-informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology); MBA (General, Marketing Management, Tourism and Hotel Management, Financial Management, Hospital Management, Investment Management, International Business, Retail Management, Information system management, Financial services, Entrepreneurship, Service Management, Export Management, Human Resource Management, Industry Integrated); MSW; M.Com (General, Computer Applications): M.A. (English Literature)

M.A. (new courses): Gandhian Thought, Aringar Anna Thought, Kalaingar Karunanithi Thought, Thanthai Periyar Thought

UG courses (3 years) (annual pattern): B.Sc (Visual communication, Costume design and fashion, Catering science and hotel management, Mathematics, Physics); B.Com (General, Computer Applications); B.A. (English Literature, Tamil Literature, B.Litt (Tamil); BBM; BBA; BSW

Following courses are offered in Tamil medium also from the year 2009-10: B.Com; M.Com; BBA; MBA (General)

MBA (5 years) Integrated course: Diploma, Advance Diploma, BBA, PG Diploma and MBA

Eligibility: A pass in +2 (Higher secondary) examination

Executive MBA (semester pattern)

Course period: one year (theory); one year (project work)

Eligibility: A graduate in any discipline with 3 years working experience (Managerial/Supervisory/Executive cadre) in a reputed organization

PG Diploma courses (1 year) (annual pattern): Bio-informatics, International Business, Communicative English, Insurance Management, Teaching of Tamil

Diploma courses (1 year) (annual pattern): Computerized Accounting, Catering Science and Hotel Management

Lateral entry programmes

Direct admission to second year of BCA/B.Sc Computer Science for relevant three years diploma in Computer Technology, Computer Engineering and Information Technology

Direct admission to II year B.Com for relevant three years diploma in Commercial practice and modern office management

Direct admission to II year B.Sc Costume design and Fashion technology for relevant three years diploma in Costume design and dress making, Garment technology and Apparel Design and fabrication Technology

Direct admission to II year B.Sc catering science and hotel management for relevant three years diploma in catering science

Admission to II year UG for relevant bachelor degree similar in nature

MCA refer prospectus

Scholarship: SC/ST employed students can get scholarship as per G.O.Ms.No.73 dtd 14.07.2004. Their parents annual income should not exceed Rs 1,00,000/- subject to the Rules and Regulations

Study material issued on admission

Students presently studying UG/PG programme in the recognized universities/colleges in India are eligible to join any UG/PG programme concurrently

Separate placement and job fair will be organized exclusively for school of distance education students

The university reserves the right to conduct or not to conduct any of the above courses

Last date for submission of Application 30-09-2011

The cost of application form and prospectus is Rs 100/- for all the courses except for Executive MBA, the cost of which is Rs 300/-

Application form and prospectus can be had from the spot admission centres and city centre/school of distance education, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore

Application forms can be obtained by post on enclosing a demand draft for Rs 150/- for all the courses and Rs 350/- for the Executive MBA and requisition with a self-addressed envelop of size 30x24 cms or can be downloaded from the university website www.b-u.ac.in
