Before making payment of application fee, candidates are advised to ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria. The application fee and/or postage amount deposited once will neither be refunded nor be adjusted against any other recruitment process
Recruitment to vacancies in each state is a separate recruitment for all purposes. A common written examination is held on the same day for various states for administrative convenience only
Candidates can apply for vacancies in one state/union territory only and have to apply for the examination from a centre attached to that particular state/union territory only. No change in the preference of the state/union territory applied and/or examination centre will be permitted after submission of the application form
Emoluments: scale of pay Rs 7200/-19300/- (DA, HRA etc. will be paid as per Bank’s rules in force from time to time depending upon the place of posting, other benefits include Medical Aid, Hospitalization expenses, conveyance expenses, LFC, and Retirement Benefits, as per Bipartite settlement/Rules of the Bank amended from time to time)
Application fee (including postage charge) non refundable: for SC/ST/Person with Disability/Ex-Serviceman Rs 50/- (the fee is towards postage only); for all others (including OBC) Rs 300/-
Requisite application fee is to be paid at any of the branches of Indian bank on or after 07.06.2010 but not later than 06.07.2010
Guidelines for applying on-line: Before applying on-line, application fee is to be paid in cash at any branch of Indian Bank only. After making payment of application fee, the candidate must collect the payment receipt from the branch; the particulars thereof are to be quoted in the on-line application. The original payment receipt must be produced along with the call letter at the time of written test. Eligible candidates are required to apply online through Bank’s website www.indianbank.in and no other means/mode of application will be acceptable
The candidates should have a valid email id before applying online. If the candidate does not have a valid email id, he/she should create a new valid email id before applying online
For the purpose of locating the branch address for remitting fees, applicants may log on to Bank’s website www.indianbank.in wherein provision is available for locating address of the branches. Applicants are advised to type town/city/place in the space provided under branch search in the website
The last date for registering application online and payment of fees is 06.07.2010. Application for registration will be available on Bank’s website between 07.06.2010 to 06.07.2010. The challan for payment of fees will be made available on the Bank’s website. Candidates have to take a print out of the challan from the website and remit the fees in any of Indian Bank branches using this challan between 07.06.2010 and 06.07.2010 only. On payment, the receipt portion of the challan will be given back to the candidate by the branch concerned incorporating the following details; deposit journal number; branch name; branch code; date of remittance; the details are to be mentioned by the candidates at the appropriate place in the on line application format while submitting the same
Applications once submitted on-line will not be allowed to be withdrawn and fees once paid will neither be refunded nor held in reserve for any other examination. After applying on-line, take print out of system generated on-line application form and retain it for future reference. Do not send this print out to the Bank
Original payment receipt will have to be submitted with the call letter at the time of written examination. An application registered online without actual payment of fees will not be entertained
Nationality/citizenship: A candidate must be either (i) a citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) subject of Bhutan or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the govt of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/ interview conducted by the Bank but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the govt of India has issued the necessary eligibility certificate
Educational qualifications (as on 01.01.2010): A pass with 50% or more marks in Higher Secondary examination of 10+2 of the 10+2+3 pattern/Intermediate/Pre-University or any equivalent examination/Diploma in Banking recognized by Central/ state govt or UT administration (a pass in the examination for SC/ST/Ex-serviceman/Person with Disability) or a degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the central govt
Age limit (as on 01.01.2010): not below 18 years; not above 28 years
Relaxation in upper age limit: SC/ST 5 years; OBC 3 years; Persons with Disability 10 years; Ex-serviceman 3 years (in addition to the actual period of service in the Defence forces subject to a maximum age of 50 years)
Probation: On appointment, candidates will be on probation for a minimum period of 6 months, which may be extended at the Bank’s discretion. On successful completion of the probation, and if found suitable, they will be confirmed in the services of the Bank
There will be negative marks for the wrong answers in the objective test
The candidates shall be required to qualify in each objective test separately
Candidates have the option to answer Descriptive Test either in English or Hindi or in the official language of the state/Union territory for which they have applied. Candidates have to pass in each of the objective and descriptive test separately. Depending upon the number of candidates against the vacancies, only those candidates, who rank sufficiently high in the objective test will be called for interview. Mere eligibility/pass in the test shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview
Final selection will be on the basis of the ranking accorded after adding the marks obtained in the objective tests and Interview

Call letters for the written examination: The date of the written test is 22.08.2010 (Sunday). The date of written test will be intimated in the call letter along with the centre/venue for the examination. All eligible candidates will be issued call letters at the correspondence address given by them in their online application, which will be sent by post on or after 30.07.2010.
