Eligibility: Pass in 10+2 with Science subjects with at least 50% marks in the optional subjects viz Chemistry, Physics and Biology or any other qualification recognized as equivalent there to by the University of Calicut

The Centre for Health Sciences, University of Calicut has been established with the aim of providing quality education and training in various disciplines of Health Sciences

The Institution is developed without state subsidy as a fully self-financing centre of Higher learning. Hence the finance for the infrastructure and expenses for the conduct of courses are to be met from the fee, services charges and deposits collected from the students







Courses of study: The centre offers the following courses of study from the academic year 2010-11

Usual relaxation in the required minimum marks will be allowed to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC communities

Rules of reservation prescribed by the university of Calicut will be followed for admission

Admission: Admission to the courses will be on the basis of merit. The percentage of marks obtained for optional subjects in the qualifying examination together will the score in the entrance test conducted for the purpose by the university will be considered for deciding the merit

The applicants who have passed the qualifying examination from the university of Calicut or those who have passed the qualifying examination from institutions within the jurisdiction of the university of Calicut shall be given a weightage of 10% of marks to their final score in the merit list

Fees: The students are required to pay all fee as well as other fee; Recognition fee Rs 65/-; Matriculation fee Rs 65/-; University union fee Rs 30/-; Sports Affiliation fee Rs 75/-

All remittances are to be made to the Calicut university fund by way of crossed demand draft in favor of the Finance officer, University of Calicut, payable at SBT, Calicut university branch (code 200)

Examination fee is to be remitted as per university notification from time to time

10% of the SC/ST students will be exempted from payment of Tuition fee if the govt reimburses the same to the university/institution. They have to apply for fee concession in the prescribed form in order to get sanction from the District development officer within one month of the date of admission (As per the G.O. (M.S.) no. 48/2004/SC/ST development department dtd 17.07.2004. Only 10% of SC/ST students with the highest rank in the qualifying examinations will be eligible for the fee concession of the govt

Fees once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances

Caution deposit: At the time of admission all students should deposit an amount of Rs 30,000/- (Rs thirty thousand only) each and deposit will be refunded after the completion of the course without interest after deducting the charges towards damages and loss sustained if any, on the part of the student concerned

The students will have to remit the deposit of the Calicut University fund by way of a crossed demand draft drawn in favor of the Finance Officer, University of Calicut payable at SBT Calicut University branch

In case the caution deposit is to be refunded to the candidates, who leave during the period of the course, from such candidates an amount equivalent to 10% of the caution deposit will be deduced as handling charges

How to apply: The application form and prospectus can be had from the Director, Centre for Health Sciences, Calicut University campus. The prospectus can be downloaded from the website of university of Calicut (www.universityofcalicut.info)

Filled in application along with crossed demand draft for 300/- drawn in favor of the Finance Officer University of Calicut payable at SBT Calicut university branch attested copies of certificates and two self addressed stamped (Rs 5/- envelope 28x13 cm) should reach the Director, Centre for Health Sciences, Calicut University (PO), Thenhipalam-673635 on or before 26th August, 2010 (Thursday)

Application in the prescribed form in original only is acceptable

Candidates need submit only one application for the various courses indicating the order of preference

Only photocopies of the mark lists, certificates and other documents need be sent along with the application

Candidates should appear for the entrance test/interview at their own expenses

Candidates should bring the originals of the certificates/mark lists at the time of interview/admission

The fact that a candidate has been called for interview does not confer on him/her any claim for selection. The admission lists will be provisional and subject to confirmation by the university

The university will not be responsible for non-receipt or late receipt of applications, interview memos and other correspondence regarding admission

If any candidate who is provisionally selected, fails to report to the officer concerned, on or before the specified time and date, his/her selection stands automatically cancelled without any further information

The university reserves the right to cancel any course for administrative or other reasons
