Admission Notice-2012

Post M.Sc-Ph.D/Integrated Ph.D Admissions-2012

SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, a premier autonomous research institution engaged in advanced scientific research in frontier areas, and aided by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, invites application from motivated students (having consistently excellent academic record with first division/class) for its residential Ph.D programmes

Those who have qualified in the BOSE TEST-2012 held on 04th March, 2012 need not apply again

Post-M.Sc-Ph.D Programme

Basic Qualification: M.Sc with first class/division in Physics, Chemistry or Biological Sciences (and/or its interdisciplinary branches) with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the B.Sc level

Eligibility for Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview during 11th-15th June, 2012, based on their JEST-2012 score and/or CSIR-UGC-NET (JRF/LS)

Fellowship: In line with the current rules, Rs 16,000/- per month for the first two years as a JRF

Thereafter, upon meeting the eligibility criteria of the centre and a comprehensive examination, the students will be inducted as SRF with a monthly stipend of Rs 18000/-

As the center provides free hostel accommodation, students will not receive HRA

Integrated Ph.D Programme in Physical Science (in collaboration with the University of Calcutta)

Basic qualification: First class/division in B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics

Eligibility for Interview: Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their JEST-2012 and/or NGPE-2012 rank

Interview of shortlisted candidates: For exact dates of interview visit website after 25th April, 2012

Monthly stipend: Rs 12,000/- for admitted students during the first two years

The successful completion of the course work will lead to an M.Sc degree by the University of Calcutta, and thereafter, upon meeting the eligibility criteria, the students will be inducted as JRF

After joining as JRF, the students will be paid at par with JRF in the post-M.Sc programme
