In India, the tourism and hospitality industries are witnessing a period of exponential growth; the world’s leading travel and tourism journal, Conde Nast Traveller, ranked India as the numero uno travel destination in the world for 2007, as against fourth position in 2006. For five consecutive year, India has witnessed double-digit growth in foreign tourist arrivals. Along with the rise in foreign tourist arrivals, foreign exchange earnings have shown a robust growth. Tourism has now become a significant industry in India, contributing around 5.9 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP) and providing employment to about 41.8 million people. As per the world travel and tourism council, the tourism industry in India is likely to generate US$ 121.4 billion of economic activity by 2015 and Hospitality sector has the potential to earn US$24 billion in foreign exchange by 2015

About the course: The MBA Tourism and Hospitality management is a two year (02) full time programme affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-H) consisting of four semesters (04) with industrial exposure training. This course is offered exclusively by NITHM at its campus in Hyderabad. The curriculum and syllabus is based on guidelines prescribed by industry and academia from Tourism, Travel, Hospitality and Management disciplines adopted by JNTU-H
Classes in an MBA program for Hospitality management are designed to develop students’ ability to apply business and leadership strategies to hospitality industry-specific situations. Courses include; Business communication, Economics, Travel agency and tour operations, ICT, contemporary tourism management, revenue management, Food and Beverage cost control, front office operations, hospitality facilities design, housekeeping management, purchasing and inventory control, real estate finance and investments, resort development, retail and consumer behavior, sanitation and safety
Eligibility criteria: Admissions are open for full time MBA (Tourism and Hospitality) program (duration 4 semesters). Admission to the institute is open to all who fulfill the prescribed qualifications. The selection is strictly made on the basis of merit. Students who have completed an undergraduate degree, including tourism and hospitality graduates with 50% marks aggregate (can be relaxed by 5% for SC/ST candidates), (any discipline) are eligible for admission to the MBA (T&H) course. They should have appeared for any of the management aptitude tests viz MAT/ICET. Selection would be through group discussion followed by personal interview
Tourism and Hospitality graduate students meeting the requirements, and who have not taken any management aptitude test, have to appear in the Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test (THAT) conducted by NITHM. Students short-listed out of THAT will be required to appear for the group discussion and personal interview
If eligible candidates are not available in the reserved categories, the seats will be converted to general category
Bachelor of Business Administrator
The BBA in Tourism and Hospitality management is a 4 year full time integrated programme affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-H) consisting of eight semesters with 10 months of industrial exposure training. This course is offered exclusively by NITHM at its campus in Hyderabad. The course curriculum and syllabus is based on inputs from disciplines of Tourism, Travel, Hospitality and General Management required for Under Graduates and adopted by JNTU-H
Classes in BBA program in Tourism and Hospitality management are designed to develop students’ ability to apply business strategies to hospitality industry-specific situations. Courses include; food production, food science and nutrition, financial, travel and hospitality accounting, travel agency and tour operations, food and beverage service operation, cultural heritage, tourism geography, communication, leisure and recreation, tour guide and escort services, human resource and behaviorial issues, hotel and business laws and research project design and methodology

Eligibility criteria for BBA (T&H) programme: Intermediate or equivalent (10+2 stream) with 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST candidates)
Reservation: SC 15%, ST 6%, Physically handicapped 3%, BC as per A.P. Govt. norms as on date of interview, 1/3 seats for women students. A few seats are earmarked for foreign candidates and those sponsored by industry, NRI’s and Entrepreneurs. Written test and counseling for admissions will be conducted at NITHM. Foreign students have to route their applications through MHRD (ministry of human resources development, govt of India, New Delhi) or ICCR (Indian council for cultural relations, New Delhi)
Age limit: Candidates from general, OBC and physically handicapped categories upper age limit is 22 years at the date of submission of application. In the case of SC/ST candidates upper age limit is 25 years at the date of submission of application. During selection procedure relevant certificate must be produced in original as a proof of age
Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology
The Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is a four year extensive programme affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) consisting of eight semesters with 800 hours of industrial exposure training. This course is offered only at the standalone campus of NITHM. The syllabus adopted is based on outlines prescribed by AICTE and adopted by JNTU-H
BHMCT emphasizes on skills, working knowledge and attitude to sustain the working environment in the future for the aspiring professional. The core operational domains of instruction are food production, food and beverage service, front office operations, house keeping operations along with accountancy, HRM, food nutrition, facilities and planning, financial management along with one foreign language. The medium of instruction is in English

Eligibility criteria
Minimum qualification: Minimum qualification for admission is 50% in 10+2 system of any state or central board/secondary examination from any discipline. In case of SC/ST it is relaxed to 45%. Provisional admissions will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted to NITHM at the time of admission. Admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/documents to be produced by the candidates at the time of admission in NITHM. Even after admission, if an applicant is at a later date found ineligible on account of having submitted false information or testimonials or for having suppressed any material information, his/her admission will be cancelled and the fee paid will also be forfeited. Decision of NITHM regarding the eligibility shall be final.
