Admission notification

Applications are invited in the prescribed form from eligible candidates for admission into the following programmes, affiliated to University of Madras

Full-time (Stipendiary) Ph.D Programme in Engineering Education (Inter-disciplinary Research)

Master of Technology (Human Resource Development) M.Tech (HRD) - 4 semester programme

Master of Technical Education (M.Tech.Ed) - 4 semester programme

Master of Technology (Human Resource Development) M. Tech (HRD)

Duration: Four semesters; August 2, 2010 - April 30, 2012

Eligibility for admission: Candidates holding a degree in engineering or technology of University of Madras or any University recognized by the Syndicate of this University as equivalent thereto.

Programme goals: Develop appropriate model(s) for planning and development of programmes which are relevant to the resolution of the issues confronting HRD in technical education/ corporate sector/govt departments to improve its efficiency and effectiveness and future capabilities of the system, considering advances due to globalization of Indian Economy; analyse the issues, models and methodologies for designing, implementing and evaluating the curriculum of HRD programmes vis-a-vis the needs of the system; generate dependable and workable solutions to problems in such areas as needs analysis, programme planning, courseware development, and organizing human resource development programmes to meet the demands of various sectors of government, industries and services; evolve procedures for review, evaluation, and development of policies in HRD in Government/organized sectors/technical education sector in order to bring about qualitative improvements in HRD; develop models for HRD in Indian Industries/Institutions and develop specialists to undertake various functions in HRD in these industries / institutions







Intake: 29 seats as under; for deputation from state directorates of technical education 15; open selection 14

Master of Technical Education (M.Tech ED)

Duration: Four semesters; August 2, 2010 to April 30, 2012

Eligibility for admission: Candidates holding a degree in engineering or technology of University of Madras or any University recognized by the Syndicate of this University as equivalent thereto.

Programme goals: Evolve procedures for formulation, review and evaluation of policies in technical education system vis-a-vis national and international developments in order to bring about qualitative improvement in the structure and standards; evaluate the suitability of the models of management and administration relevant to the resolution of the issues confronting technical education to improve its effectiveness and future capabilities of the system; analyse the issues, models and methodologies for designing, implementing and evaluating the curriculum of technical education programme vis-a-vis the needs of the system; arrive at dependable and workable solutions to problems in such areas as teaching, learning, curriculum implementation, management of learning, examination, planning, administration following the principles, methodologies and approaches of educational research

Intake: 29 seats as under; for deputation from state directorates of technical education 15; open selection 14

Reservation: 15% seats are reserved for SC, 7½ per cent for ST, 27 per cent for OBC candidates and also up to 3 per cent seats are reserved for persons with disabilities as per govt of India rules; seats not filled from the quota for deputed candidates will be allotted to candidates from open selection category; admission of candidates in the open category will be on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and marks obtained in the NITTTR entrance test. Weightage for these two is (i) marks obtained in the qualifying examination 60% (ii) NITTTR entrance test 40%

NITTTR entrance test for PG Courses: All students, other than those sponsored by state directorates of technical education will have to appear for the entrance test for PG courses conducted by NITTTR. The test will be of 2 hours duration consisting of 120 objective test items.

Issue of application forms: 01.05.2010 (fee for application form and prospectus Rs 500/-)

Last date for receipt of completed application forms: 25.06.2010

Last date for receipt of applications of deputed candidates from the state directorate: 25.06.2010

NITTTR entrance test: 02.07.2010 (10am to 12noon)

Publication of admission list: 09.07.2010

Last date for admission: 16.07.2010

Course commencement: 02.08.2010

Application fee: An application fee of Rs 500/- (Rs 250/- for SC/ST) payable through demand draft drawn in favour of the director, NITTTR, Chennai payable at Chennai should be enclosed with the application form. Application forms without demand draft will be summarily rejected. Completed application forms in the prescribed form must reach the director, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research Taramani, Chennai-600113 on or before 25th June 2010 (05.30 pm). Late and incomplete applications will not be considered for selection
