M.Sc, MSW Admission-2012

M.Sc (Mathematics and Scientific Computing), MSW (Master of Social Works) admissions for academic session 2012-13

Mathematics

Master of Science (Mathematics and Scientific Computing)

Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)

Humanities and Social Sciences

MSW (Master of Social Work)

Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)

Eligibility: The eligibility conditions are the absolute minimum

Departments may prescribe any other requirements over and above the absolute minimum, subject to the approval of the SPGC

The specified minimum marks/CPI (Cumulative Performance Index), referred to in subsequent sections, implies a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CPI in qualifying examination (SC/ST candidates eligibility in specified minimum marks is relaxed to 55% or equivalent)

Reservation: 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (a sub-quota of 4.5% for minorities within the 27% reservation for OBCs is admissible), 15% seats are reserved for the SC candidates and 7.5% seats are reserved for the ST candidates

Persons with physical disability (PD) 3% seats are reserved horizontally as prescribed by Govt of India

M.Sc Mathematics and Scientific Computing: Three years B.Sc degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade (55% or equivalent for SC/ST candidates) with Mathematics as one of the main subject

Admission Procedure: Screening on the basis of score obtained in JAM-2012 (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc conducted by IIT, Bombay, Mumbai) and Interview

Master of Social Work: Graduation in any stream with minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade (55% or equivalent for SC/ST candidates)

Admission Procedure: On the basis of written test, group discussion/personal interview

Application Procedure: Eligible candidates are required to download the application form from Institute website ww.mnnit.ac.in

Dully filled in and signed application form along with a demand draft of Rs 1000/- (Rs 500/- for SC/ST) in favour of Director, MNNIT payable at Allahabad must reach the Admission Cell, Office of the Dean (Academic), Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Allahabad-211004 latest by 25th May, 2012 up to 5.30 p.m.

Admission Criteria

M.Sc: Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of score obtained in Joint Admission Test-2012 (JAM-2012) for M.Sc conducted by IIT Bombay, Mumbai

Name of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the Institute website on 05th June, 2012 with the details of interview to be conducted by admission cell/examination cell in association with Mathematics department

MSW: Name of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the Institute website on 05th June, 2012 with the details of written examination/interview/group discussion/personal interview to be conducted by admission cell/examination cell in association with Humanities and Social Sciences department

Separate application forms must be filled for courses offered by different departments along with the prescribed fee

No separate letter will be sent by the institute for attending the test/interview/counseling

Candidates are advised to visit the Institute website www.mnnit.ac.in for regular update

The name of the short listed candidates shall also be displayed on the Notice Board of the Departments

The written examination and/or counseling will commence from 10.00 a.m.

No candidate shall be considered for written examination/interview/group discussion/personal interview without the result of the qualifying examination

If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate on the dated of written examination/interview/group discussion/personal interview from the Principal/Registrar of his/her college/institute stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the qualifying degree on the date of the issue of the certificate

However, mark sheet of qualifying examination with requisite marks or equivalent CGPA must be submitted to the office of Dean (Academic) on or before the first week of September, 2012, failing which will lead to cancellation of admission

The candidates are required to bring following documents at the time of counseling/interview; High School Certificate in original; Mark sheets of qualifying examination in original; Character certificate issued by the Head of the institution last attended; OBC/SC/ST/PH certificate, if applicable; Certificate of OBMC (for a sub-quota of 4.5% for minorities within the 27% reservation for OBCs)

Admission Fee: Selected candidates, whose names will be displayed on Institute website on 28th June, 2012 will be required to deposit a non-refundable admission fee as a demand draft in favour of Director MNNIT Allahabad payable at Allahabad before 13th July, 2011, of amount Rs 6,625/- in favour of Director MNNIT Allahabad payable at Allahabad

Admission fee is not refundable in any case whatsoever

The balance fee, if any, is to be deposited at the time of registration

The filled up and signed application form along with demand draft should be dispatched/submitted to the Admission Cell, Office of the Dean (Academic), Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Allahabad-211004 so as to reach on or before 25th June, 2012 up to 05.30 p.m.
