Admission through entrance test by HPU, at Shimla for seats available in Abhilashi Institute of Life sciences (AILS), Mandi; Bhojia Institute of Life Sciences (BILS), Nalagarh; Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli; Himachal Institute of Life Sciences (HILS), Poanta; Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla; and Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management (SILB), Solan, affiliated to HPU, Shimla

Eligibility and admission procedure

B.Sc (Hons) Microbiology (3 years)

Qualification: 10+2 (PCB) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST)

Age (as on 1st July, 2010): Not more than 23 years

Mode of admission: Based on merit of qualifying exam (i.e. 10+2 exam)

Counseling venue: HPU Auditorium, Shimla; display of merit list: 19th June, 2010

 

M.Sc Microbiology (2 years)

Qualification: B.Sc (10+2+3) with any of the subjects i.e. Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Gegnetics, Molecular Biology, Botany or Zoology or MBBS/B.V.Sc from any institute/university recognized by the Himachal Pradesh university, Shimla/university grants commission, New Delhi with at least 50% marks

Age (as on 1st July, 2010): Male (not more than 26 years); Female (not more that 28 years); SC/ST (not more than 29 years)

Mode of admission: Entrance test (MCQ type) to be conducted by HPU at Shimla on June 13, 2010 (10.00 a.m.)

Counseling venue: HPU Auditorium, Shimla; Display of merit list: 19th June, 2010

The candidate who has appeared in the qualifying examination but whose result so far has not been declared can also apply but his/her eligibility for the entrance test and admission will be purely provisional subject to the condition that he/she has to produce a passing certificate scoring the percentage at least prescribed thereto in the qualifying exams on the day of counseling

Procedure for obtaining the prospectus: The prospectus containing details and prescribed application form is available from coordinator (Microbiology programme), Department of Biotechnology, H.P. university, Shimla w.e.f. May 05, 2010 on cash payment of Rs 1000/- (Rs one thousand only). For SC/ST candidates the price of the prospectus at counter shall be Rs 500/-. A copy of the prospectus can also be obtained through registered post by remitting Rs 1100/- (Rs one thousand and one hundred only) or Rs 600/- in case of SC/ST candidates through a demand draft drawn in favour of coordinator (Microbiology program), department of Biotechnology, H.P. university, Shimla. Money orders will not be accepted. The cost of prospectus also includes the test fee/handling charges. The request for supply of prospectus by post shall be addressed to coordinator (Microbiology program), department of biotechnology, H.P. university, Shimla-171005

No request for sending the prospectus by post will be entertained after May 21, 2010

The university/coordinator will not be responsible for any postal delay or misplacement or loss of the prospectus in transit. The candidates are advised to procure the prospectus well in time. Prospectus shall also be available at AILS, Mandi; BILS, Budh, Nalagarh, HILS, Poanta, SILB, Solan, and St Bede’s Shimla

Last date for submission of duly filled complete application form in the department of Biotechnology, H.P. university, Shimla is 26.05.2010 (4.00 p.m.)

Issue of roll numbers: The roll numbers to eligible candidates for the entrance test will be dispatched through post by June 07, 2010. In case the same is not received, the candidate(s) can obtain a duplicate roll number/admit card on June 11, 2010 from the office of coordinator (Microbiology program), department of Biotechnology, H.P. university, Shimla-5 between 11.00 a.m. to 4 p.m. In any case, the candidates are advised to procure their roll numbers well in time

All disputes are subject to legal jurisdiction of courts at Shimla only pertaining to admissions under the Microbiology programs
