ADMISSION TO Ph. D AND INTEGRATED Ph. D PROGRAMMES IN NEUROSCIENCE FOR THE YEAR 2007
NBRC is a premier institute with an objective to pursue research in the frontier areas of Neuroscience to understand brain function in health and disease. Research areas include Molecular, Cellular, Systems, Cellular, Systems,. Cognitive, Computational and Theoretical Neuroscience. Details of the research activities are available at www.nbrc.ac.in
Applications are invited for admissions to Ph.D and Integrated Ph.D programmes. Selection process will involve an entrance test followed by interview of the shortlisted candidates. Ph. D. in NEUROSCIENCE
Eligibility:
- Master’s degree in any branch of Science such as Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.
- Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination are eligible to apply.
Candidates who have qualified for JRF in CSIR / UGC / ICMR / ICCSR / DBT – JRF national or any other equivalent examination are exempted from appearing for the entrance test. They should apply with the proof of qualification. They may be called for the interview subject to fulfilling the other requirements.
INTERGRATED Ph. D. PROGRAMME in NEUROSCIENCE
NBRC has initiated Ph. D. Programme in Neuroscience for exceptionally meritorious and motivated students with a goal to provide seamless transition from classroom training to high quality research in challenging areas of neuroscience. On successful completion of the entire programme the students will be given both M.Sc and Ph. D degrees.
Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science such as Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.
- Candidates appearing for the final years of qualifying examination are eligible to apply.
- All the candidates for the Integrated Ph. D Programme will have to appear for the entrance test.
Note 1 : Candidates with a continuous track record of atleast 55% marks throughout the academic career starting from 10 th class only will be considered.
Note 2 : Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination have to submit the proof of having qualified in the examination latest by 15 th May, 2007 .
Note 3 : Candidates claiming the equivalence in any of the examination will have to furnish the satisfactory proof from the appropriate authority.
Note 4 : Concession / Reservation to SC / ST candidates will be as per Government of India Policy.
The candidates may apply through on – line registration facility available at the NBRC website www.nbrc.ac.in’ or ‘admission.nbrc.res.in’. The candidates submitting their application on – line should send the demand draft and copies of certificates by post to complete the application process.
Application forms can be downloaded from the NBRC website (www.nbrc.ac.in). and the same is also available with the Registrar, NBRC which can be collected in person or obtained through post by sending a demand draft of Rs 50/ -(non – refundable) in favour of Director, NBRC payable at Manesar/Gurgaon.
Completed application forms along with copies of proof of qualifying examination, one passport size photograph and non – refundable fee in the form of demand draft of Rs. 750/- (no fees in case of SC / ST candidates) in favour of Director, NBRC payable at Manesar/Gurgaon should be sent to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, NH – 8, Manesar – 122050, Haryana latest by 15 th December, 2006.
Incomplete Application forms will not be considered.
The entrance tests for both Ph. D and Integrated Ph. D programmes will be conducted on 4 th February, 2007 at Bangalore , Delhi , Kolkata and Mumbai.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at NBRC. Train fare for ordinary sleeper class from the nearest railway station will be paid to the candidates attending the interview, on production of tickets. Selection will be based on performance in the interview. Decision of the screening/selection committee will be final and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Selected candidates will be eligible for scholarship as per rules and will be provided hostel accommodation.
