Joint Admission Test to M.Sc. (JAM) 2007
Joint Admission Test to M.Sc. (JAM) 2007 will be held on March 25, 2007 for admission to M.Sc. and other post – B.Sc. programmes at IITs for the academic session 2007 – 08. JAM 2007 is open to all nationals. Candidates who are due to appear in final examination of the qualifying degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to appear in JAM 2007.
Test Paper: JAM 2007 will have Eight Test Papers, namely, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Applications, Geology, Geophysics, Objective type while the other papers will be Objective – cum – Subjective type. A candidate can appear at the most in two test papers subjects to the restrictions of test schedule, with additional fee for the second test paper.

Eligibility Requirements for Admission: |
JAM 2007 qualified candidates shall have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs.
- At least 55% aggregate marks (for all subjects, all subjects, all years combined) for General category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (for all subjects, all years combined) for SC/ST category candidates in the qualifying degree.
For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks) the equivalence in percentage of marks shall be decided by the admitting institutes(s). |

Note: JAM – Implementation Committee may drop any test city/town at its discretion.
Reservations: Reservations for candidates belonging to SC.ST and Person with Disability (PD) are as per GOI rules. Reservation for OBC candidates, if any, would be notified on the websites f IITs as and when Government orders for the same are issued.
Information Brochure and Application Form: The Application Forms along with Information Brochures can be obtained on payment of
Application Fee of Rs. 800/- for General Category Male candidates, Rs. 700/- for General Category Female candidates and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST candidates during November 13, 2006 to January 5, 2007 from the designated branches at Canara Bank in the country. The application material can also be obtained by post from JAM offices of all IITs by sending a request along with a self – addressed slip and a crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 850/- for General Category Male, Rs. 750/- for General Category Female and Rs. 450/- for SC/ST candidates drawn in favour of “Chairman, JAM, IIT Guwahati” payable at Guwhati, which must reach, JAM Office of any one the IITs latest by December 26, 2006. The application material will be sent by Speed Post / Registered Post.
Additional Fee for Second Test Paper: The additional fee for a Second Test Paper is Rs. 200/- for General candidates (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST candidates), to be paid by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Chairman, JAM, IIT Guwahati” payable at Guwahati which may be sent, only along with the completed Application Form/Online Registration Form.
Online Registration: Candidates can register ONLINE at the website: http://www.iitg.ernet.in/jam or http:/www.iitg.ac.in/jam, and send the completed Registration Form along with the Demand Draft for the appropriate Application Fee and additional test paper fee (if any) to the organizing institute. The completed Application Form/Online Registration Form with necessary enclosures must be sent only to the “Organsing Chairman, JAM 2007, IIT Guwahati,. Guwahati – 781 039” and must reach IIT Guwahati on or before January 12, 2007 .

Joint Admission Procedure: Admission to the above mentioned academic programmes in IITs for the academic session 2007 – 08 shall be made on the basis of All India Merit Rank of JAM 2007. Candidates who qualify in any Test Paper shall be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programmes corresponding to that Test Paper, provided they also statisfy the minimum educational qualifications and the essential eligibility requirements, as specified by the Institutes(S) in which the admission is sought. After the declaration of JAM 2007 results, qualified candidates shall be required to apply on prescribed Admission Form (available free of cost after April 24, 2007) listing all the programmes for which the admission is sought to the Organising Institute (IIT Guwahati).
