Are the admissions open only to Karnataka students?
No, admissions are open to all

 

Are the admissions under reservation categories open only to Karnataka students?
Yes, reservation category seats under SC, ST, OBC (Cat1, 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B) and minorities are open only to Karnataka students.

 

I have finished my PUC/INTER/HSC/+2 a few years ago. Am I eligible for these courses?
Yes, you can apply for the notified courses, if you fulfill the eligibility requirements as defined.

 

When is the last date to apply?
Completed application forms must reach the office of COMEDK on or before 18/05/2006 . Applications received after the last date will be rejected.

 

Where should the applications be sent and to whom should it be addressed?

What are the enclosures to be made along with the applications?
Applicants have to send the Demand Draft for the appropriate amount and the COMEDK copy of the Date of Birth Certificate and ID Proof Form and an extra photograph Only

 

I wish to apply for Medical and Engineering courses. Should I apply for each of them separately or can I apply through a single application for both of them?
You can apply to any/all of Medical, Dental and Engineering courses in a single form. You can indicate your preferences for each of them in the same application form. You have to provide Rs.600 (DD) in case of you attempting only PCB or PCM. In the case you are taking all the four subjects (PCMB) you have to send a demand draft for Rs 800.

 

Is there any minimum marks to be scored in COMEDK UGET-2006?
A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 50% for General catogory and 40% for those belonging to Schedule Caste / Schedule tribe and other backward Classes in the COMEDK UGET-2006 to be eligible for M.B.B.S./B.D.S. in terms of MCI/DCI regulations.

ELIGIBILITY FOR COMEDK 2006

Specific Eligibility Criteria for the courses are as follows:

MBBS & BDS:
Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC / 10+2 Higher secondary examination or equivalent examination, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject, must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB. In addition, in the competitive entrance test, must have secured not less than 50% marks in PCB.

In respect of candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC, the marks obtained in PCB taken together in qualifying examination should not be less than 40% and also score not less than 40% in the Competitive Entrance Test.

BE:
For General category student the minimum qualification for admission to degree program in Engineering should be a pass in the 2nd PUC / 10+2 Higher secondary Examination or equivalent qualifying Examination with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics(PCM), irrespective of marks secured in PCM subjects in the Competitive Entrance Test.

For SC, ST and OBC students the aggregate marks in PCM should be not less than 40% in the qualifying examination, irrespective of marks secured in PCM subjects in the Competitive Entrance Test.

 

Admission Procedure

The process involves the following stages:

  • Submission of Online application
  • Submission of completed filled in application along with DD

Non-refundable application fee for taking COMEDK UGET-2006 is Rs.600/- for PCB or PCM and Rs.800/- for taking all the four subject tests, (PCMB). DD for appropriate amount should be drawn in favour of COMEDK-2006, payable at Bangalore and should be enclosed with the application.

Reservation For Category Candidates

Reservation is made in the seat matrix in favour of Karnataka candidates belonging to the Schedule Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes of citizens under categories 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B in accordance with the Karnataka State Govt. Order. Production of a “Caste Certificate/ Caste Income Certificate” issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar in form ‘D’ in case of Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes; in form ‘E’ in case of category-1 ; in form ‘F’ in case of Other Backward Classes like 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B along with a duly sworn affidavit in support of the claim is mandatory for selecting a seat under reserved category. Provided further that only candidates of Karnataka origin shall be eligible to claim the reserved seats in the seat matrix.

MINORITY:
There are two types of Minority Institutions i.e. MINORITY RELIGIOUS and MINORITY LINGUISTIC. The Religious Minority includes the candidates belonging to MUSLIM,SIKH, CHRISTIAN, JAIN & BUDDHIST religions and the Linguistic Minority includes the candidates whose Mother tongue is TULU, TELUGU, TAMIL, KODAVA and KONKANI languages.

Production of a ‘minority certificate’ ( Religious / Linguistic: Mother Tongue) issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar along with a duly sworn affidavit in support of the claim is mandatory for selecting a seat in a minority institution. Only candidates of Karnataka origin shall be eligible to claim the seats in the minority quota of the Minority College

The Claim under reservation category/minority status in the application for UGET-2006, does not automatically confer the claimed status. It is the responsibility of the candidate to produce the original certificates in support of their claim at the time of verification of documents and affidavit prior to the centralised counselling, failing which the candidate is treated as under general merit.
