Confusion prevails as sites displaying CAT result crash
CONFUSION and anxiety was prevalent among those who appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) on November 19, as the websites, where the result of the entrance was to be put up today, crashed.
The IIMs had earlier announced that the result would be available on January 2. However, earlier in the day today the IIM Lucknow site www.iiml.ac.in informed that the result would be delayed for a few days because of technical and logistic reasons.
But by afternoon IIM Kozhikode had displayed the result online, though not many students could take a look at it, as the site crashed. A similar situation was witnessed on the websites of few other IIM websites.
It is for the first time that IIMs would be declaring the score card before sending the group discussion and interview calls.
Earlier, the pattern was to send the calls first and the score card, later.
The duration of the entrance had been increased by half an hour for CAT 2006 and the number of questions were decreased.

CAT 2006 results out on IIM websites
The CAT examination results are out and the scores can be accessed by logging on to any of the IIM websites.
At 1500 hours IST the IIM Kozikode web site was the first one to make the results available online. The merit list, that is the list of candidates who will get a call for group discussion and interview is expected to be out by Tuesday midnight.
"CAT results have been put up on the website of all IIMs and students can access them from anywhere," Director of IIM Lucknow, Devi Singh said. "Interview and Group Discussion for admissions to IIMs would start in March," he added.
IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata are likely to give out the list of selected candidates by late Tuesday night.
Meanwhile IIM Lucknow has said they'll come out with their list of shortlisted candidates before the January 8.

CAT scores are Lower This Year
The CAT group, which on Tuesday released percentile scores of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2006, said that the overall highest percentile was 67.95% in the test held on November 19, 2006.
As many as 1.77 lakh students appeared for the test for entrances to the country’s premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other B-schools for the academic year 2007-08.
The highest percentile in the three sections this year was in quantitative ability section — 100%. While the highest percentile in Logic and Data Interpretation was 86%, it was only 60% in English Usage and Comprehension.
This year, CAT — one of the toughest entrance test in India — was relatively easier. Not only was there more time to brave the paper (30 minutes more), but there were fewer questions too — 75 questions instead of expected 90. Source TOI
